These videos are national treasures to all of us who grew up doing this. Favorite was a NH 273 pulled behind a 656 diesel hydro & pulled up wagons up the steep hills with a SMDTA. Backed then the boys were strong & everyone slept good bc we were all tired.

I did all this work. With the same equipment. Thought it was the best. Looking back lot of work. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Great video, takes me back.

My name is Craig Peterson, I helped Don and his brother--in-law Otto put up hay in 1969 when I was 16.

You don’t see wooden bale thrower racks anymore. Video brings back memory’s. A bit of nostalgia.

Take away the bale thrower and presto your making hay my way. So nice seeing kids earning their keep and learning values. So sad to see so many empty barns in Wisconsin now and all over the world. Want respectful communities add a dozen small farms and family stores to each one

you got that right, small family farms are disappearing from every state and its a real shame

What a pity that so many people who post vintage footage like this spoil it by imposing music on it. It would be great to hear the sound of the machinery working- it really adds to the experience.

Do you not realize this is from 8mm home movie film? There was no sound to that.

Brings back memories. Eating watermelon after a long hot day of making hay.

When you live that lifestyle. Then you look back. You realize how old you are. I did all this. It's nice to see this video to remember how things really were.

The twilight of pax Americana. The decline of the family farm mirrors the decline of America. Progress? I doubt it.
