As soon as they said he was a surfer I knew what the cause of his condition was. Not the medical name but the cause. I'm glad Dr Dubrow was able to help Bruno as he seems like a lovely man.

A regular ultrasound would have found out that it were fat deposits. Poor him, that he had to do a cat scan if I think about that you have to pay it yourself in the USA.

The transverse incision can be hidden under the waistband easier. If he's shirtless a lot, he might not want two visible scars even if they're smaller

Incisions are normally along the lines of langer which are transverse on the abdomen

I also have this ...going to surgery tomorrow... I'm a surfer too... noticed my rib hurting after surfing the first time like 15 years ago ....always had a little bump there...but last year it started to grow ...i have it in both sides ...the bigger one is 7cmx5cm

They look more like Lipomas to me why did they use that technique? Why not just a simple local incision?

Lipoma was my first thought. So i figured at first a quick incision and squeeze them out. But I suspect he's been to a dermatologist already...he's clearly had quite a journey. Also, lipomas should have shown up on CT.

Just a guess but the one long scar is located in an area typically hidden by swimming trunks vs the two scars that would have been always visible. I'm assuming plastics would want the best visual result for the patient.

because they were not Lipomas. They were paradoxically overgrown fat cells, you can't squeeze or cut those out like a Lipoma

These are fats absorbed in the body. The only solution to this problem is simply high intense workouts. I also have something similar to what Bruno had.

A CT scan wouldn’t show anything except bone. He should’ve done an MRI

I disagree a bit with you. You just have to choose the right protocol. CT is great with breast tissue I've found, as well as certain other soft tissue applications. But MR and Ultrasound would've been great too

@@mojojojo9706 You are basing this probably off not knowing the cutting edge of CT. I mean, even an electron beam tomography CT machine is fine to see a lipoma (as opposed to a spiral CT). But you would be amazed what can be achieved with signal processing as well. Even better advancements compared to early ultrasound vs new machines.
