Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but out of all the Housewives franchises on Bravo, RHoNJ is considered a family show just as much as it centers on the wives, and the husbands are just as much of the story arc as the women, and some do receive a small compensation for actively taking part. So in essence, the men weighing in on cast conversations is not now, nor has ever been out of the ordinary.
