It's the same problem where pretty much every bad guy in media who gets redeemed is always secretly good or never had a choice or some other factor that makes them basically a ten minute conversation away from betraying the bad guys. I think a lot of people miss the point of Adam's character and why a lot of other people actually like him. 1. He was given a destiny to follow and when Lilith refused to work with him as he took the lead to move forward she refused. 2. His second wife that may have been made from his ribcage betrayed him by accepting the apple from Lucifier and Lilith. 3. His kids will forever be damned and have to decided whether or not they are going to be winners or sinners. Which if they are sinners they are basically siding with his first ex wife and the man who ruined his second relationship/his destiny. 4. Adam acts much like Blitz from Hellva Boss for he is afraid of commitment given his past experiences and puts on a act to hide his pain that he has been suffering from. 5. This is very important for when he meets charlie the first time he is eating a set of rips and is talking about how "i am important don't you know me stick" because his ego is all he has going for him. 6. Since in reality he probably thinks nobody likes him, nobody wanted to accept who he is, and his own passions which is ironic given the company Charlie keeps with he would fit right in as would Lute. 7. When he is fighting against Alastor, Charlie, and Lucifer the walls around Adam begin coming down as he reveales that he knows he is just the first man, he knows he is exactly like them, and just wanted to be loved by everyone yet nobody was willing to actually accept him for who he is. It's very poetic and a very good point for the series to capatilize on as Charlie should have realized Adam just wanted to be loved yet all he knew was pain and those responsible for it. Without the knowledge that the fruit could have provided he was stuck being a puppet for those in power, and maybe that is why he is still the way he is because everyone wanted him to be the fall guy but Lute. 8. Lute had feelings for Adam be it romantic or as a friend who stood by his side despite the way he was and talked to her because that was there thing as they had a lot in common more so than he did with Lilith who is self absorbed, and Eve who is apart of him ruined his chance of doing something meaningful without the worry of "being good or evil". For Adam seeing Lute show emotions when everyone could have given zero F's her words reached the real Adam who was just happy someone in the end did care for him and that is all he wanted.

Adam got disrespected very hard and seemed to have died a pitiful death and yet he still got something that he lost 2 times and thought he never would have again, someone who stayed with him to the end, that is why he smiled, i definetly believe Adam lived a very hated life and due to his pride on top the pedestal as the first man who started mankind itself left him a sense of self importance that very much caused him to lose both Eve and Lilith, two women who were made literally for him by god who just left. Imagine god literally made two women just for you and they leave especially since one of them is made from a piece of you (Eve came from one Adam's rib for the newbies of religion), and with that sense of pride and entitlement from his title, with such promises that is made by the big man in the sky himself, how would he feel nothing but anger when he didn't get what was promised, affection. You can see in his smile that there is a serenity of peace when he was next to lute, it is like that it was all he ever wanted, someone who stayed at his side, to the very end. He was loud, obnoxious, uncaring, rude and had no empathy for damned souls, but he was still very much human, like all of mankind who descended from this man.

I got a feeling that she’s very loyal to Adam that she doesn’t give up easily even though Adam died, also she’s probably more than a second in command to Adam, like she’s a successor and like a love interest. From what Adam said abt how he named vaggie it’s implied he might have created the exorcists or at least had some hand in it. What a lot of people seem to forget is the difference between invulnerable and immortal. Sinners AND angels are vulnerable to everything you’d expect (the sinner that got run over by a car in the pilot episode, vaggie’s wings torn off, lute losing an arm, etc.). They can still be hurt and killed but they respawn. Angelic weapons do the same thing except damage souls as well, which makes them unable to respawn (unless they are redeemed as seen by sir pentious)
