Remember! You can lunge with the greatsword when you have the blue charge! Press A so you don't miss those charges if the monster so much as steps aside a bit, you can also direct it with the left stick.

Well since other people are giving tips, I'll just drop this one. Valstrax has some blind spots in front of him that when charging or after a swing from Valor Greatsword, he'll whiff some attacks and it gives you a free shot to his head. It's generally directly to the sides of his head I believe, and it works because the Valor charge lowers your hitbox.

Remember what I said Haz DON'T WASTE MATERIALS ON THE CHARGE BLADE! element phials suck in this game, I mean overall their sub-par but especially useless here. Doesn't mean the other weapons aren't goated. Remember gold VE ticket in Ruined Pinnacle equals Valstrax Gem. You can get them from the dlc or playing with people you've shared your guild card with.
