According to Shia sources the story is true but Sunnis would not completely agree with it , in my personal opinion I think the story is true in some parts , I think the character of yazid(son of Muawiya who was son of Abu sufiyan) is exaggerated, he definitely was a cruel ruler but I don’t think he Publicly denied Allah or his messenger and the Quran, but he definitely was involved in killing of Hussein to which is cannot even be called human let alone Muslim . But the cruelty he did towards the family of the prophet and Hussein is not exaggerated, it’s certainly true .

According to the narrations, after the fall of Adam (a) to the earth, there was a separation between him and his wife Eve, so he began looking for his wife in the deserts and mountains until he came to the land of Karbala. When he arrived at this land, he was entirely filled with sorrow and grief. At this time, his foot hit something and prophet Adam (a) fell on the ground and his foot began bleeding. So, he raised his head to the sky and said: “O God(Allah), did I make sin that You punished me for? Since I traveled all over the world and nothing bad happened to me like this!” He received the revelation that: “No, but here is the land that your son Husayn (a) will be killed, so you bled as a sympathy with this great tragedy.” Adam (a) said: “Is Husayn (a) one of the prophets?” There was a call that: “No, he is the grandson of the last Prophet (s).” (He is Imam and the successor of the Prophet (s)) Adam (a) asked: “Who is his killer?”, and there was a call that “he is Yazid (curse be upon him), then curse him” and prophet Adam (a) cursed him too.
