If you want to re(do)/try this, something akin to Altered Carbon mod seems more suitable? IIRC it allowed you to copy all stats and/or traits via those fancy neck thingies. Seems like that would solve at least the "i have 0 in everything herp derp" thing if all of your stats were like flat 8, ten seems pretty generous but 8 is like breakpoint for outright failing a lot of things like food poisoning when cooking and not wasting materials when building. Having no traits is fine, having 0 skill is awkward. So iunno, if it's still updated, just juryrig that so you have a spare skill 8 colonist you can cut up and copypaste at the start, i don't think you can just make a spare one out of thin air, sadly. Still, bit of editing magic and nobody would notice if you just use character editor to make a pawn, copy paste em 3 times, kill em, extract the implant and delete the bodies to start so you can actually have a clone colony. Mod included a way to copy those implants, as much as it's canonically a "bad idea". Way base game does it is mostly funny and borderline useless, not conducive to actually playing at any length. As for using 0 skill colonists in this setup, it cooould work if you make that cloning process take like a single day and use human wave tactics. Ofc you'd still need *someone* to grow the food so probably not workable. Maybe a mechanitor with two starting farmbots beeping around and ability to make rapid fire guns at the start but, yeah, it'd pretty much die the same way to sheer incompetence eventually and it's not really a "clone colony" then.
@Delfeacy2 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could do the growth vat cloning, and be a mechanator at the same time, the idea is that the mechs do the work so the clones can be freed up for combat specialization or just general cannon fodder

@Aurirang10 ай бұрын
yes, random wealth spikes are probably the most deadly thing in Rimworld, ESPECIALLY with Cassy as the storyteller. Phoebe can throw you a curveball and Randy just chucks a few bottles of milk at you. (or throws a meteor 1 block besides your most valuable colonist, almost giving you a heart attack.) But Cassy is relentless.

I feel like growth vats can be good if you use the Great (Skill) genes. Guarantied 8 skill and a passion in anything you want is so good. Problem is you just cant afford to put every skill in so for you to have a rounded out colony of vat growns you really need 3 or four gene casts that specilize in different skills. I bet that clone start with 4 people each with different specialized genes would be really OP.

Hello, really loving your content. Just so you're aware if you ever have a colony like this again with people who are bad at specific skills the book making mod helps a lot. I didn't realize but it trains the skill they write about, meaning if you have someone at a super low skill you can have them write books to gain experience on that skill. You could most likely be doing the opposite of this on purpose for cinematic value, but manhunter animals can't do anything when all colonists stay indoors, making it a reliable strat when lack of a killbox. Additionally, having three of your melee colonists behind a door so that only one dog can funnel in one at a time to fight also works. Great videos though man, RIP Greg II.

I made very cringe minecraft videos when i was like 13 or so at a guess, me and a school friend basically competed for subscriber count lol. My dad used to do quite a lot of media work so i was introduced to good vocal recording equipment very early and learned to edit video since we had access to that kind of software. At some point i deleted all those videos probably when i was like 16 because they were seriously cringe. I had another channel like 6 or so years ago that got quite popular with path of exile content but i actually lost that channel to some wierd hack and never got any support to get it back, which felt great... I think the solution to vatgrown colonists sucking would be to capture a hussar, extract their genes regularly, and put great shooting or melee into your vatkids when you get them. The "great" skill genes add 8 levels and a passion in the corresponding skill. You can do the same with dirtmoles for mining, genies for crafting, etc. and so forth. Sadly no solution for growing or construction, though. The downside is obviously increased hunger, but there are ways to deal with that too.
