In todays video we'll take two Skeletons (Which is what they call robots in Kenshi) and catapult them from being poor and slouching to being millionaires with gigachad posture, how?
Well, by buying a little gang of hivers to do all the hard work for them of course.

i mean eventually the cashflow would cease as nut&bolt would have all the money and they don't need to buy food as they are a farm so after a couple hundred years of inflation a new currency would arise and they would just have to start over again with this new currency

I think shem was developer intended to be the ideal place to build a base. It's right in the center of the map, has every resource available in decent quantity, and is just outside the range for all of the major factions non hostile raid events. Plus it's a desert oasis biome which is just cool by itself. I love shem.

I accidentally modded Shem into a horde battfield. Totally separate mods, I never intended to react together. Tech hunters tried to kill me for my bounty, the town defended me and saved me. But then a huge hord of starving bandits invaded. All the town dead from either the tech hunters or starving bandits. Then swamp ninja invade. They're too powerful and too many. We are forced to flee. My group watched from a distance as the ninja killed the few left in town. I never expected such horror in Shem. Kenshi is amazing.

I love how you present your Kenshi narrative without turning it into 90% of 100+ day Kenshi save file features on KZbin. No abducting Cat-Lon, no ending HN or UC, but something unique to your vision. I’ll remember Nut and Bolt over the countless heroes who defeated Cat-Lon, the Phoenix or Tengu, because they followed a vision. To sit at their pond. Starving the Beak-Things. Slinging their hash. The trick about building in shem is not to start until you have stockpiled enough materials to finish it all in one go. Otherwise you never finish it because you will be constantly be under attack and unable to finish work. Definitely my favorite base.

You can make smaller walls around water and second(first) gate in front of it. If this gate will be open everyone will come to it. Hostiles will swim to the next gate, but traders and friendlies will stop in front. This can help with confusion of making enemies from friendlies.

This is really cool. I also started an outpost in Shem, but I built it in an area where the sands transition to the rocky cliffs. That way I have good stone yield on the higher ground, and good farmland on the lower ground. Having seen this, I think I'll expand the farm area to include an oasis, then use that gate harpoon trick to kill Eyegore. Ive been on a campaign of terror against the slave masters, and hes due to visit me any day now

Personally I could never put my own men in a peeler. Despite the potential benefits, I feel bad for them with their screams and all. I just let what happens happen, and have my nerd moments about my head canon for my squad. I had one powerful character, my starter guy, and I got a bit too confident in his abilities. I sent him solo, in melee, against a leviathan. His arm got blown clean off by one of its attacks, so I made it out to be a learning experience for him, and equipped an arm that one of the pack animals had stashed away just in case this very thing happened. Another time, I hired a cool looking dude, a hiver. I made him my specialist martial-arts-doctor. I dressed him in a Gi outfit for that clean doctor's coat look, and gave him a straw hat. Unfortunately for him, he was a fresh recruit, and hivers have low limb health so he soon became a double amputee and had mismatched prosthetic legs hastily installed. He was still my doctor. I just love this game, and I hope Kenshi 2 gets fully pimped out with systems and mechanics that the original Kenshi could have had!

Hive Drones make ideal slaves, since they have a 0.5x hunger modifier, immunity to acid, 0.3x bleed and bonuses to farming and laboring. Getting their limbs knocked off can be an issue, but shouldn't be if they're not put in harms way, and replacing any dismemberments is easy with the amount of money (or resources) they bring in
