So what will it cost? 40 million? I'm a Geno fan but I'm just want to wait to see how he performs with Grubb. What's the hurry? Let come around after game 8 and then see how it looks. We will know alot more.

Question: has there ever been a back up QB that had to play the whole season and ended up leading the league in completion percentage?
@alginvestmentllc7638
@alginvestmentllc7638 2 ай бұрын
@@jayo2654 idk about completion percentage but Steve young became the league mvp. But Steve young was already famous as a backup. Also Steve young became the niners starter at the age of 31 like Geno interesting there is not a lot of comparison there. Of course Russ ain’t Montana either

I think they should only sell player jerseys in the size that the player wears...just to make it more authentic. And it'd be quite entertaining.

I believe Geno will silence his critics this next season. We need to sign him to an extension now before it’s too late. I believe he is a lot better than what some fans think he is.. I don’t blame Geno for the offensive struggles that the Seahawks had last year. There was a lot of things that were going wrong. Such as the offensive line was struggling therefore, we couldn’t establish the running game which makes it very hard to establish the passing game. also, it didn’t look like Shane Waldron was doing a very good job of being creative in the playcalling which is hard to do when you don’t have a running game because the offensive line could not block well enough. it all starts with the line of scrimmage in my opinion. You gotta have good blocking at the line you can’t rely on a football player to win the game. It’s a team effort.

You have to have 3 RBs on your 53. I've seen two to three RBs go down in one game in multiple games with multiple teams over the years. There have been times when Seattle went through all their RBs in one year.

Kenny McIntosh is a one man wrecking crew if you feature him in the offense. He is a more dynamic rusher and pass catcher than everyone in that running back room with exception to Walker as a rusher. Grubb's offense could really use him and spare Walker the wear and tear on 3rd downs. Charbonnet is a good power runner, but not a down field pass catcher. Holani is completely unproven, but has shown that he can run and pass pro in the backfield. So, it depends on what you want to do schematically, but McIntosh should not be swept under the practice squad bus. That would be a waste of talent and draft capital.

Zac charbonnet was a good pass catcher in college. Over 500 yards in two years at UCLA. I liked kenny mac in college a ton btw.

Brian's changed some of my thinking about Geno. That said how is Geno going to be more expensive? He's under contract. Is Geno holding out? Is the league beating down the door for him? They didn't after '22. Probably should just play out this season and see where the team is at then.

@iron_bison
@iron_bison 2 ай бұрын
@@real.crypticlol indeed. That the gm wrote all the contracts so there's no cap space next year including geno's deal. I really don't care what other qbs are getting. Reducing his cap next year just means bigger dead caps in the future. See: the cut safeties. Probably Dre jones not being worth 25 mil next year. Possibly lockett.

@@iron_bison I think genos ceiling for a contract will be cousins area with less guarantees. In that case the dead cap will never be insane high after a couple seasons.

You're right, they will have to put at least 9 O lineman on the roster or they are going to lose draft capital. IMO, Olu and Jerell must not be put at risk for waivers. And if you value O'Neil that much, he has to be protected as well.

@@matthewphillips5911 I think you are correct. And the bias is always there. If Russ makes a mistake people never blamed him and Geno really only makes a handful of mistakes that’s all on him and he gets blamed whenever anything negative happens. Mahomes Allen threw more int than Geno last two years but the Geno haters talks like he is some turnover machine.

You can't predict the future. Just let his contract play out. The only reason to extend at this point would be to lower next year's cap hit which I think stands at $38.5 M. When he is due for another contract in 2026 he will be 36 and that age factor will not allow his value to go up, unless he shatters the NFL in 2024 and 2025. On an aging QB that has such relatively little playing history, the marginal rate of performance goes down and so does the rate of increase on the contract payout.

@alginvestmentllc7638 I think a few weeks in. Nothing against geno but I can't drink the oline kool-aid til I see it. I have worries he'll "struggle," because the line isn't going to magically be better until week 8 or so.
@whitebird357
@whitebird357 2 ай бұрын
@@alginvestmentllc7638 That all depends on his performance this year. There are other factors involved as well.
@whitebird357
@whitebird357 2 ай бұрын
@@iron_bison Geno won't struggle unless the O line underperforms. The key to this season is that they have the O line ready to go week 1. This has to be their focus or else Geno will be inconsistent. Contract extension should not be considered until the season is over, unless they can't deal with the cap space issue for next year.
@iron_bison
@iron_bison 2 ай бұрын
@@whitebird357we're agreeing here though in essence. That's why I put struggle in quotes. I dont think the oline which is still shuffling a few weeks before kickoff will gel week one. With rare exceptions teams that make a deep run have multiple returning starters under the same offense year to year. My oline hope is that three of this years starters are returning for '25 in their same spot.
@elaineres1
@elaineres1 2 ай бұрын
It's not just an opinion. Statistics show Geno performed at a top 20 QB and that is behind the next to worst OL. AND the 49's are not good because of their QB but inspire of their QB. The 49er success is because of their strong core of players. The 49er's list 3 games when McCaffrey was out. It's a TEAM sport. I guarantee you Geno's price after this season will probably be almost twice what it is now. And he's worth it. Just ask yourself, what available QB could the Hawks get that would be better for less?
