Most captivating Blender channel on KZbin. I love classical architecture and you do great job of recreating it.

KZbin really just recommended this to me dynamically even though it came out ten minutes ago. This is doubly amazing because I've been thinking about how to model an ionic capital after watching your modular architecture video!

I designed my Ionic capital about 10 years ago and it still satisfies me to this day. However, if I had to model it today, I would definitely use your method because your modelling is much more elegant and the model takes less memory. Thanks! 👏

Almost every other KZbin channel would have a tutorial like this one cost money. Thank you for making videos like these free. They are amazing and you deserve more subscribers.

Amazing! And now to understand what I’ve just seen. As a sculptor who has actually modelled a few capitals in my time , to watch this was incredible. Thanks for the upload, I am inspired.

you have such a depth of thoroughness to your modelling that i usually find irritating, but yours is absolutely perfect. people often overcomplicate things needlessly without reason, every step you take makes total sense and adds to the final product. so amazing!!

Dude, this is so amazing, I love your channel and your content, it is very detailed, few channels achieve the depth that you have in your tutorials. I know how difficult it is to make content of this type, and if it is within your means, please don't stop, you have helped me a lot and also the community.

Nice tutorial, one of the first things i made in blender was a set of corbel designs. Really improved my skills by the end of it, no easy way to do it, just practice and keep going

Often, it's actually not a logarithmic spiral though - Most Ionic volutes are constructed of segments of circles which closely approximate a logarithmic spiral. Additionally, the mouldings on the volute shrink in size as they circle inwards. Is there a good way to accomplish those refinements?

For the geometry node part, you don't need to store the attribute, just plug the tangent node with align vector to euler directly to the instant on point. for me i prefer to use normal attribute instead of tangent because it work with every mesh.

20:05 What is the reason for applying mirror modifier? It looks symmetric to me. I would never apply a mirror modifier unless I intend on breaking a symmetry
@hbitproject7 ай бұрын
I did that essentially for the bevel part. Since I'm adding an odd number of loops, after that you could easily delete again half of the mesh and add back the mirror modifier 👍

12:35 what is the purpose of extruding along the normals? the movement (in this case) is strictly on Y

How to make the circle around the egg in 14:56? There is a missing part then I can't follow now
@thomas77265 ай бұрын
Have you been talking about proportional editing mode? You can activate it by pressing "o". If you're talking about the outside of the "egg", you can get the same result by applying a circle, in object mode, and rotating it. Then, in edit mode (tab), and with the entire circle selected (press "A"), you press "F" to create (fill) a face. It seems to me that, still in editing mode, he used the "insert face", and used the scale on the Z axis, aligning the inner face of the circle with what would be the egg. Then, he deleted this inner face, leaving the border created with the insert face, deleted half of the circle (to apply the mirror), and he must have done an extrude and some loop cuts to control the curvature, since he also applied a subdivision modifier.

You probably don't know. This shape you are working on represents the conversion of energy into mass. The house roof used in the column capital also indicates that the mass is the universe. I think palm trees are also about the beginning of life, cycles, etc. It must be expressing. In other words, it is not a shape made just like that.
