So, purgatory, is like a "holding place" after one dies. You can't go anywhere until it's time for judgment. So, Purgatory Soul Food, means they are stuck in a holding place/same place. I think this sketch really highlights how soul food is killing us, especially the much older generation. The 80's babies and up are becoming more aware of our diet, but not enough of us. "The oxtails are to die for". The "purgatory" restaurant. The poor service adds the comedic touch, especially how accurate it is when it comes to hood soul food restaurants in particular. Black owned soul food restaurants located outside the hood don't operate like that.
