Every fighter cuts weight At least 10pounds. An intense cut is more like 15 pounds and major extreme cuts can be anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds depending when you start. In amatuer wrestling 20 pound cuts are normal. But you need to monitor your weight and begin the cut at least two weeks out and don't take it for granted that you've always made weight

@copperkipper1 they think training at altitude in mexico caused them to miscalculate the weight and subsequent cut.... he'll make 135, probably for the last time.... gamboa wanted the fight, he didn't even decide to test the waters at 130.... it's a stupid move IMO... he'll get stopped by the naturally much bigger guy.

We like individualized competition (look at how we exalt guys like Kobe Bryant of Lebron James on TEAM sports) and constant physical contact like in Boxing makes for some of the most visceral and tangible form of competition available. The blend of mental and physical strength on display is difficult to match when done right, and a fight could last as little as a few second or the better part of an hour, it all depends on the situation

@ijan1705 the height issue comes in bro....i am a boxer 5'10 and weigh 154 during fight time........i walk around at 168 but the guys at 168 are like 6'1-6'4........the height and reach advantage are just way too big to cope with.......thatz why everyone tries to reduce their weight to fight regular opponents if not weaker 1s!!!

Brandon needed to go up to 140 Hellas ago .. He look like a small middleweight trying to make 135 .. Sometimes you have to listen to your body .. When a boxer that trains as hard as brandon rios trains can't make the lightweight limit of a hundred .. That just tells everyone that he needs to move up to 140 .. He could even be competitive against some guys at 147 welterweight division .. Brandon to me has always been a huge 135 pounder .. He needs to move up .. He cant make that weight anymore..

rios is going to do to gamboa what he did to acosta.... and what demarco did to linares.... gamboa will outbox him early, but once rios starts cutting off the ring and catching up to him.... it's lights out.... gamboa won't be able to to run and outbox him for 12 rounds at 135.... his stamina will be affected by fighting at a higher weight for the first time... i mean gamboa's jumping up two weight classes.... and rios will be weighing up to 15lbs more than him on the night....
