My headcanon is that the monkeys "sacrificed" to paragons are sent to some kind of purgatory where they channel their strength into the paragon, and are then sent back once the paragon is no longer needed on the battlefield. Bonus headcanon: upgrading a monkey just replaces it with a monkey that is trained in the way you chose. Behind the scenes, monkeys are always being trained, and the expensive upgrades simply take more time and effort to teach the monkeys, so monkeys with those abilities are in higher demand.

Personally I think that the Super Monkey should be the last tower to get a paragon. It’s (supposedly) the strongest tower in the game. Also I think that the Beast Handler should’ve gotten a paragon when it was released because 1. people might like it more and 2. it would save more time to work on the other paragons.
