@poorboysrc it's a cheap esc and motor combo from ebay that is like 30 dollars for both of them I've saw a lot of videos that people say that they're not good but they're really good. It's easy to find them it's the one with a light blue esc and a big 8 pole motor

That's a great looking truck, Fil! The specs are excellent too. As you said though, it's just screaming out for a little more power! But as it is I'm sure this thing will just keep bashing along for many, many battery packs to come. Made me laugh when you first put the stickers on mate! 😅😅Great review my friend! 🙌😎👍

Looks like a fun one to rip around. One of the problems of running in the sand and snow is it does double the weight of the car very quickly! It is impossible not to want to do it again though LOL!!

You should try to get ahold of the 2997a. It's the same chassis with beefed up motor and esc and it runs on 3s (it's very fast and durable)

HBX makes some good stuff. They should have came out with a PRO/Brushless version of this. Would love to see it with a brushless upgrade if you do one!

Very easy to convert to Brushless, I bought the HBX 2997a Brushless motor ($28), a Dumbo X6FG Gyro Transmitter/Receiver ($24), and a programmable Hobbywing 45a ESC (($18), direct drop in, plug and play, one of the best bargains in RCs. The 2995 is $105 every other week. Packed the Front Planetary gears with 15K/Rear 5K losi grease.

It's really good, this one, and like you say, begging for a brushless conversion! I have a similar one, other brand model, but still has HBX stamped on the chassis, so I know it's this one. I think it's 4000kV and a 16 or 17 tooth pinion I have in mine, it's a beast! I jumped it a few times but sadly it broke both times, no plastics broken, it was metal parts... But it's still on my list for 2025 season to get it restored and hopefully on video also at some point, he he...

That's an awesome buggy and especially for the price you almost get not so well equipped cars in that scale. The only thing I don't like is this handsome lame look of the rims. But lets say as soon as it runs, you don't see it anymore. You're not the first putting stickers on the protection foil😉

You can run the stock setup on 3s with no issues.

@poorboysrc I have three 2995's, one I converted to brushless, the Brushed one, & one still in the box never opened, Been running the Brushed one on 3s for years, I recently switched the HBX Brushed motor to the Traxxas 550 12T, what a major performance increase that was, I should have done that years ago.

that would be awesome if you upgrade the electronics and show it's potential. however, it looks like a great reliable basher. durability testing would be one thing once electronics upgraded since we can see how well these so called "monkey metals" hold up in the long run. It's so cool looking but the scale of 1/12 , it's too small , I need 1/10 minimum preferably 1/8, as they struggle in grass and off road they go flying everywhere,eh just my opinion
