I remember getting this at a yard sale in the early 2000's, I was about 6 years old. I loved that thing to death, the awe striker is the reason why I love dune buggys and jeeps.

My son and I were at a flea market around 05 or 06 and one of the vendors had some G.I Joe stuff. My son saw this and a Cobra Night Landing both for 10 bucks. I gave him the choice to pick one. He chose the A.W.E. striker but it didn't have Crankcase. The guy running the place made a nice gesture and gave my son a Bone Crusher figure for free. In all of the Joe parts and things I got at a yard sale for him, he used Chuckles' pistol and holster for him.

I am assuming the name "Elwood" for Crankcase is an homage to the Blues Brothers movie, Dan Akroyd is a big time gear head and was also the inspiration for the character "D-day" in Animal House.

Hello Hcc I don't know if you read these comments on older videos however I know you enjoy finding out in the real world weapons used and I do believe crankcases gun in my own opinion resembles a Galil just another possibility . That's all I gotta say and I enjoy your videos a great deal . Thank you much !!!!

ALL of my GI Joe was '82, '83, '84 - the VAMP was my very first thing this one is REALLY cool - i would have LOVED to have had it reminds me of the Fisher Price Dune Buster, which also had suspension

hey! its kapg-games here and I know im only 12 and young but I am BIG in colleting vintage gi joes... I have 13 so far... I have lady jaye, destro, cobra commander in battle armour, 25th anniversary cobra commander, spirit with freedom the eagle, zartan, zarana, the crimson twins, sgnt slaughter, a pirate gi joe (I don't know his name), a plane fighter (I don't know his name either), and a pink gijoe (also! I don't know his name), and a bunch of weapons including zartans bow. believe it or not I take GREAT care of these knowing that they aren't "toys" anymore because they're collectables... but occasionally ill do some roll playing with them! lol I also have a gijoe comic book which came in with the zartan, zarana, and battle suit cobra commander in one box that I found in a pawn shop in north Carolina. sorry if im boring you... basically im saying I like collecting gijoes and im glad to see that a lot of other people do too! thnx for reading. BYE! YOJOE!!!!

That is an excellent start on a great collection. It is nice to know younger people are getting into the hobby. These are great toys, and they can still bring joy to young people. They were a lot of fun to play with when they first came out. Good luck on getting more of the vintage stuff! And I hope you will check back on my videos. I'll be looking at a lot of great G. I. Joe toys from the 80s. It will be fun!

Today I completed my AWE-Striker with the last missing part.... the fire control camera. looks so much better with the camera installed. My AWE-Strikes comes in a more darker green color scheme. I guess this is so, because it is an european Action Force release of that toy vehicle. The stickers on it also say Action Force as well.

top tier vehicle all the way. only thing really holding this sucker back is the driver..which looks quite generic to me. its crazy they gave such an elaborate backstory and cool patch to that guy! for a mid sized vehicle...the amount of detail they showered on it is amazing. makes a GREAT reconnaissance or patrol vehicle..and in a pinch can be a fast on the move striker. Given the nature on how joes and cobra are portrayed...this vehicle almost makes more sense for cobra to have....low costs (relatively speaking) to mass produce, easy for any soldier to drive, quick to strike...a swarm of these could have been sent to try to handle the larger joe assets...but then again cobra was stock full of things like the feret or the fang..so its cool to let the joes have some fun!

I believe that Crankcase's assault rifle is a Galil (or one of the licensed copies) in 7.62NATO.
@NeyDogg
@NeyDogg 5 жыл бұрын
VorpalDerringer I think the gun is an FN Fal variant. The Galil looks more Ak like. And has a curved magazine. The FN Fal has a straight magazine. I thought it might be the British version L1a1 but those usually have the handle on there top. The pullover looks like a ww2 British army sweater.

I don't know why Crankcase (orange moustachioed character) never spoke in the 80s Sunbow G.I. Joe cartoon (not only that, but why he was only in about *2* episodes - 'The Most Dangerous Thing in the World' and parts of the movie). Oh, and he even had a namesake in Transformers (one of the Decepticon Triggercons, who never appeared in the 80s Sunbow G1 Transformers cartoon, although was supposed to have, after part 3 of season 4's 'Headmasters' aka 'The Rebirth', which was technically the last episode of the show in the States, and North America, and definitely aired post-movie).

@@christianhafer9819 It is a great vehicle. I always had Footloose,Falcon or Leatherneck driving the Awe Striker as I thought they suited the vehicle better than Crankcase!

@christianhafer9819 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnroche7541 I only have Leatherneck of those three, thusly, and I like to keep who came with the vehicles driving them, or whomever was on the box art, if they didn't come with a driver. If they didn't come with a driver, it doesn't matter that much, but I like to try to match the box.

Considering he worked with the British SAS, it looks like Crankcase is wearing a British commando sweater; on the figure, you can just make out the patches on the shoulders, underneath the harness: i.ebayimg.com/images/g/gGYAAOSwoydWl~Vb/s-l300.jpg
