The FANG II was used in the invasion and capture of benzheen in issues 109-117. They were shown in the air assault along with hurricanes, and shown firing missiles at tanks. One also managed to shoot down a mig-21 in the opening hour of the attack.

This reminds me of the GOJOE 30th anniversary Black Dragon VTOL. Its a great comparison between modern and vintage based on size technology used on each vehicle.

Hail COBRA!!! Kudos to you for a video well done! I noticed that the FANG II has a grip molded on the sides of the instrument panel cowling. I assume those are for the pilot to grip on since there are no back peg or seat belt to secure the pilot. Other than not having a pilot action figure, this COBRA vehicle is pretty cool. As always, keep up the great work you do for this channel!!

Those fang missiles are terrible they crack they don't stay on but it's still the better vehicle. This was another great review and thank you for letting us patreons vote on the channel content! I can't wait to get a fang II for my collection!

Original fang is best fang. As a evolution though check out the black dragon vtol. It addresses all issues with the fang 2 but is modern. Keep up the hard work.

Great review, HoodedCobraCommander788. This version of the fang, but I liked the original Fang. I had the original growing up. I agree that the Fang 2 should've been black with the red Cobra Air Corps emblem. I also think it needed better landing gear, too.

I had a FANG that my mom bought me at my sister’s friend’s yard sale. It was missing the missiles and bomb. I had a blast with it until I broke the rotor by accident.

Cool review once again. I think naming it Fang II was a good idea it's been done before I mean the Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt II are definitely different aircraft.

Cannon is mounted upside down. And joysticks, the sides of the cockpit are the handgrips and flight controls, ther figure grips both hands onto the sides of the cockpit and that is how he holds on and doesnt fall out. Also: thanks for accurately calling it a "tilt rotor/ vtol aircraft" it is not a helicopter. I would have loved it more if you would have gone into turboprops.

I prefer original fang better than the fang 2 for the same reasons. I have a fang 2 and have the same issue with the engines not wanting to stay in place. I often wondered if there was a fix that could be done to make them not be so loose. I think the color scheme of the fang 2 was more in line with the Mamba copter. If you wanted to army build them you could pair them with the Mamba and the colors would compliment each other. Another great review and look forward to more.

Thank you! GI Joburg has suggested the rotor problem may be due to it not being assembled correctly, or broken. I'll have to see about that.

If your engines are rolling back, it's likely the toy is either not securely put together or is broken! There are two stops molded onto the bar that should restrict it to a 90 degree arc. And since a lot of kids assembled these with the blades facing rearwards I think there are a lot of poorly reconstructed Fang II's in the world! The comments here seem to corroborate that. Check that purple tab above the seat that it's slotted in; and that the top and bottom wing halves are securely clipped together and clipped to the fuselage. I am a smartass and you know it!

Nice job! Hasbro really should have given this one another name. It looks nothing like it's predecessor. It's a cool toy otherwise. I just love how Cobra vehicles afford little protection for the drivers.

1989 was the introduction of the modern versions of the G.I. Joe vehicles, bigger and better. The HISS II came in that year, and the FANG II served a similar purpose, air support vehicle, however it could function as a fighter if needed since it was much faster, and could climb faster too.

count me in the group that likes the fang 2 over the original one! while iconic...the original never felt like a substantial war machine. fang two came to play in my book!!!!! i do agree with u that the colors arent as good as the classic

I got this one under particularly odd circumstances, which I rather not mention here (for the sake of brevity); I gotta say it looks way cooler than the original Fang, but the OG though seems slightly more realistic design-wise. I do agree that the tilting rotors feature is probably the most annoying thing about the Fang II. IMHO, the best VTOL Cobra vehicle ever is the Hurricane.

It has been suggested in comments that the problem with the tilt rotors may be due to it being misassembled. I'll have to see about that.

It could be more fun with skis & maybe rocket pod ... This good enough to support FANG 1 in combat hoever , something was missing to & pilot this craft need a pilot ...

A rocket pod or a bomb would have helped. They probably wouldn't pack a pilot with a vehicle this small. I don't think the HEAT Viper really works. You could use an Night Viper, maybe. Astro Viper may look good in it.

I wasn't ever really a big fan of the cobra fangs. I Don't like the design. It's Just not my cup of tea. But I would like to point out that the 30th anniversary black dragon VTOL seems to be the modern take of the fang 2. So, I suppose you could call it the fang 3?! 😂 Great review buddy!

I found on my F2 that the upper wing needs to be fastened/snapped together SUPER-TIGHT in order to 'lock' the engines into either of their modes.

At least it has some extra protection for the pilot. I never liked this one. Just seemed bland and uninspiring.
