Few notes, and impressions from an issue I bought at a gas station when it came out. "Lenin" is using a Kasuri-Gama. A sickle connected to a chain and either blunt weighted end or mace type spiked ball. It's accurate. I'd say the troopers carrying the claw had MANY flights of steps to walk, OR the C.L.A.W. Had to be refueled, or it's a different C.L.A.W. Being stored. Scarlett taking the sword...if she landed with her back to Storm Shadow, the flying wing may have been damaged. She wanted Snake Eyes to escape if the worst outcome happened, after all Storm Shadow would have given his only weapon away. Also Storm Shadow had no Cobra emblem...was this his test of loyalty or competence? Since Destro failed more...never even cornering either Joe, Storm Shadow showed cunning and ability beyond such lackeys as Scar Face or Major Bludd. All in all, great synopsis of a landmark issue.

I remember reading a letter to the editor in a later issue. Any way some guy had wrote this scathing letter, about how ripped off he felt, for buying issue 21. I recall him saying something to the effect of "payed a buck and a half for something to read, and all I got was sound effects! " I was maybe 8 or 9 years old then, and I still remember reading that and being mostly unaware of what he was talking about. I always loved to read the letters in the bulletin board.

This was the first comic book I ever bought. I guess I was 9. I loved it. I didn't know what "Interlude" meant, I remember asking my mom, she said it was like a meeting. I loved it! I "read" it so many times. Back then, like a lot of kids, I was all things ninja! It's an awesome comic....and yeah, I got the tattoo......but I got it on my upper arm, as I don't want a tattoo on my forearm. I have that tattoo, not cause I'm a ninja or part of a clan, but as remembrance of my childhood, real fond memories of joy, friendship and imagination. (And it looks cool!) (Except most people don't get it and ask why I have a brick tattoo.)

this issue was created as a backstop issue due to the popularity of GI Joe which went on to be the biggest comic book of the 80s which was the biggest decade for comic books Storm Shadow snatched Scarlet out of the sky when she was doing her yearly qualifying jump using the claw Storm Shadow new where she would be because she would repeat the jump from the C-130 from the previous year Snake eyes saw Storm Shadow kidnapper and told wild Bill to turn the plane around even though it violated foreign air space. Cobra Castle cobra tized version of a real castle in Transylvania on the southern border. Scarlett and snake eyes we're headed to help Magda and the white clown and Eastern Europe which later became a storyline in the comics. how's Scarlet got the Band-Aid on her face while in midair from Storm Shadow we do not know. when Storm Shadow gets a closer look at Scarlet in the dungeon it's not to look upon her her beauty is to look upon the bandage on her face he sees that as a failure a flaw in his training as we see when he presented her to Cobra Commander he he unwrapped her what the sword because her no harm he also scheathed his sword after she bit him for some reason he did not want any harm to befall Scarlet. the I Ching symbol tells us that Storm Shadow hard Master soft master and jinx are aligned Royal Japanese bodyguardz and not assassins Storm Shadow or Tommy, is said to be

My take on the rescue sequence at the end: Scarlet was already descending when Storm Shadow released the sword and she didn't have enough time to switch gears. It wasn't as much a self-sacrifice as it was unfortunate timing. As for why she didn't land with the backside facing Storm Shadow, there's a chance the sword might have penetrated the glider's casing and damaged it, leaving both her and Snake Eyes SOL. Yeah, it probably would have bounced off, but between lucky shots and comic book physics...

Lol I've always loved the color separation error @ 20:14. They cut the film for the cyan plate but they never cut out for the thumb so it's hidden in the handle of the sword. Oops
