Love the reviews, brings back memories of my childhood and my G.I. Joe collection. I got the USS Flagg for Christmas in 1986 from my grandparents. It took took my father and I sometime to put it all together. My dad actually gave up his den so I had somewhere to display the Flagg and comfortably play with it. It was definitely one of my centerpieces of my collection. Xmas 1986 was a big year for my Joe collection. I also got the Terrordome, Night Raven, Tomahawk, Conquest X-30, Thunder Machine and quite a few of the 85-86 figures. It was one of my more rememberable Christmases. Xmas 87 I got the Defiant Space Shuttle and Moblie Command Center. Thank you for these wonderful reviews. It sure brought me back to a great time in life.

When I was a kid I used two air mattresses in the swimming pool and my imagination. GiJoe had an aircraft carrier and Cobra had one and they battled it out at sea. I miss my childhood. Best times. My imagination and me. Also did not have the official jets and stuff but others that I could fit my Gijoes into that were from other toy lines.

In the process of re-assembling mine from Christmas of 1985 after bringing it out of a basement crawl space where has resided since 1988 or so after spending 3 hours cleaning the dirt and cobwebs off of it. I think I actually have most of the pieces including the bull horn, but it is in rough shape. Of course Admiral Keel Haul & Shipwreck are missing.

@timf74137 жыл бұрын
All joking aside, if you were willing to let it sink up to the decking, it probably would. The flat deck pieces are strong and hollow enough to naturally float.

This massive toy went for $110.00 and was 7ft long. Now if this massive beast was for G.I. Joe's in the 3.75 inch scale. What would a present day version of it in the 1/12 scale version for 6 inch G.I Joe's be like and what would it be worth?
@blacksheepserigraphie92093 ай бұрын
I have the 99 deck stickers placed the same way and yes it’s backwards to the way it’s shown in the instructions and cartoons but in a more realistic view point it’s not backwards because the planes approach from the back of the carrier in the air to land and they look for the 99 during their approach so if the stickers were placed as the cartoons it would read 66 to the pilots trying to land.

Sonuvagun, Brian. I'm in for a journey. I'm trying to buy the USS Flagg piece by piece. So far, I have the forward '99' deck plate and a half doorway. That's it. I guess about 100 more parts to go.

As good as this playset is, since I never owned one, I could only imagine what one was like. I always wanted it, but I had a bigger passion for Transformers, so my Joe collection always took a back seat. Looking back, I think I would have enjoyed the Joe toys more if the Sunbow series hadn't been so over the top cheesy at times. Looking back on it older, I can honestly say that while Transformers had the superior animated series, GI Joe was the superior toy line. That said, I always loved naval stuff, and I hinted on many occasions that I wanted Flagg, but it never happened. Considering that I did get a lot of other playsets, like the Headquarters from GI Joe, and the Technodrome from TMNT, I am pretty certain that the main reason I did not get USS Flagg was due to the amount of space it occupied. Looking at it now in this video, I can see that with the exception of the elevator, it was a pretty awesome playset. I often dreamed of building my own custom below deck spaces and having a table display of my own. The elevator, however, is a big fail, as it not only conceptually goes nowhere, but the framework inside makes it unusable even if you did build custom below decks. Making the elevator usable would require completely remaking its frame pieces. In fact, if I am ever so lucky to own a Flagg, I think it would be wise to remove the inner piece of the elevator framework entirely and instead mount a piston underneath it for support built into the new custom hull beneath, with the side pieces of the elevator remaining as a running track. The fact that one of the primary frame pieces is 1/3 of the way across the elevator would just have to be a concession.

Just my opinion, but I always felt like the plastic thickness should have been reversed between the support struts and the decking. The decking is so robust, but the the struts are the weight bearing members. It should have been reversed IMHO.
