I love that they threw in another precure duo like this in the middle of the series. It's a shame that you can tell that they were a rushed job tough, there isn't at all as much detail and fluid animation as with the main group.

All the claps and hand clasps make me think a lot of Heartcatch, but the speeches make me think more of Splash Star. They're pretty obviously intended to be throw backs to the older shows that had more emphasis on duos.

Keep in mind that the Japanese language doesn't have the letter L in it, so anything with the letter L would be replaced with R. So any voice actor in Japan would be saying Rani instead of Lani which sounds too Japanese which would be the same situation with Hina.

They look really interesting. Also they should seriously add some dark skinned or black cures in future seasons, since everyone is already light skinned. But I doubt they will because the creators of precure (and 90% of anime creators) seem to be against adding dark skinned heroes to their animes. so disappointing.

Actually if you look at past characters from the pretty cure series you'll notice that tan skinned characters are prevalent. Cure sunshine / cute sunny/ cure black. It's not really that animation creators are against it. The Japanese culture has beauty and relatability standards just as much as other cultures. A character with pale skin and presents as cute and cheerful is a common place ascetic for young Japanese girls as its relatable to them but let's not forget that it's not about the skin the characters have strong personalities with crazy hair styles+colors, eyes, and expressions that over power that.

They AREN'T against it, there's just no market for that since Japan doesn't have a lot of non-East Asian foreigners. The little girls watching it are mainly Japanese and they consider themselves to be light-skinned. If you want an anime with dark skinned characters in it you shouldn't be searching for that in series for little Japanese girls.

L5940 that's not a good argument. just cause it's a kids' show shouldn't prevent it from having dark characters. if japanese consider themselves light skinned, then ok... but how is that a reason to not have even just a few dark people. with that argument, why are a lot of characters blonde or caucasian-looking then (cure flora, etc)? And how do you explain the absence of no dark or black girl international Cures in happiness charge? it's strange since the whole international concept is AROUND THE WORLD yet they're all white skinned. kinda messed up if you think about it

Sushi Devourer I haven't watched that episode but there's a chance we would find their depiction to be stereotypical and thus racist. To avoid that whole confrontation and just because it's non-traditional to them they don't do it. The most dark-skinned character in precure is probably the prince in princess precure. I think they should try to add a dark-skinned character ( not just tanned ) but I would be worried about how they're going to draw her as well. From what I've seen there were precures from India, a native American precure and a precure from Egypt. Although there were still a lot of white precures that might have something to do with the kinds of foreigners they see in their own country. I think most (non-East Asian) tourists visiting their country are American/European.
