Formally a CSX line, Amtrak officially took control on Dec 1 2012, surprised Penn Central didn't turn the route over to Amtrak earlier as passenger trains use the line more than freight.

Great videos, superb quality. That was the strangest consist I have ever seen for the Lake Shore Limited. What have they done to the Boston section? Nothing like the years I worked on it.

All Aboard Productions In the 90's the Boston section would leave Boston with (usually) 2 F40's, 2-3 Mail cars, baggage , Sleeper, 3 coaches and a lounge car, 3-4 Mail cars (would drop off at Springfield) then head to Albany and pick up NYP section that was a Diner, 3 coaches, 2 Sleepers, 1 Slumber and a baggage. Sometimes when available they would also put a dome car on after the lounge car in Albany, it was a big train at times...I worked it for 1 year as my route and then off and on on the spare board...

In my opinion the most beautiful train ride in the Northeast Corridor. New York N.Y.-Albany N.Y. I has tarvelled both directions, in the past as a tourist and as a student in the U.S.A. Greetings from a Railway fan from Greece.
