Kento momota was world number one and won a record 11 international titles in 2019. On the way to the Kuala Lumpur airport, his van crashed into the back of a lorry at high speed. The van driver was killed. Kento momota was seriously injured. Since then, Kento has never been the same again. Kento usually lose in the early rounds to unseeded players. He can't overcome the psychological barrier. 😢😮😢😮
@bluetempo2216 күн бұрын
It wasn't just a psychological barrier, he caught covid once and sustained multiple back injuries as well. Might be the most tragic badminton player of all time.

Momota at his prime was really the best after Lin dan and LCW
@user-gz7fh8vo6e11 ай бұрын
The fact that he is even compared with prime Lin Dan speaks volumes about how good he is
I would say he is on par with LCW in his prime, slightly lower in LD though

This Momota had the 2008 Lin Dan confidence. So dominant, so precise. Shame what happened to him.

Yes I agree. Even his play style was a little similar to Lindans. I mean in his shot choice

Lindan footwork? i think his sense and reflex are overpowering than foot. if you want to learn footwork, let see LCW or MMT, but about reading match, prepare for kill shot, learn LinDan.

Now as I'm watching this I think I can see a little bit prime Momota in current Naraoka. This is my point of view as a new badminton fan because I wasn't there following and watching Momota's journey. I wish Momota will be making his come back because he is same age with Axelsen. Even Axelsen is still on fire now until Paris 2024, and point count for Paris 2024 started on May 2023. The one who can beat Axelsen is Momota based on head-to-head records. I hope Momota will be back and sparring together with Naraoka. Sorry my bad englishhh

his strong point is footwork and court control. he was too fast vs the rest, that made his opponents are kind of losing control and end up losing point by making mistake

Tbh I don think it was the accident anymore that caused momots to dropped form. Something actually happen to his body, he was still winning after the accident. Don’t blame the accident anymore. I think the main reason is not that anymore

Nah, this vid shows exactly why Momota was king of jazz for such a short while. His style is based on such precision that the slightest percent off is fatal. Unlike Axelsen, who was born taller and stronger, momota had to rely on practically zero error. Short peak
