More like, most AWESOME. Everyone just spells out Adell. He's too generic, he's just some hero. Yeah, he's a hero IN A WORLD WHERE HUMANS DON'T EXIST AND EVERYONE IS KINDA JUST ACCEPTING THEIR DOOM. In the scope of everything, Adell looks like some typical hero. In the scope of this world, he's like triple omega hero. And he takes it like a boss. He'll pass some of his years onto you just because he's a cool nice guy like that. Adell is maximum chad, he's absolutely idol-able and he's the best protag Disgaea has ever seen. OK second best. Will that do, Laharl?

It does reminds me how Disgaea 1 and Disgaea 2 play off the same concept yet are taken in completely different ways. After giving you a game about a crazy demon lord hell bent on power and glory, they follow it up with... a hero story about a human and a demon defending others and trying to save the world. And they manage to make it feel just as charming as the first one while using a more conventional hero plot which IMO is harder to pull off.

That was cute too, yes, but I still think the scene I was talking about conveyed a deeper feeling of loyalty and trust between a demon princess and her unexpected "human knight", which is just the sweetest thing ever to me. Plus the way Rozy is hovering over him with her hand in his makes it look like Adell is about to sweep her off her little princess throne and bring her with him to a new world, which is pretty much exactly what he does in the game. It's a simplistic but strong scene.

There are so many unanswered questions I have about the plot. Mainly the back story between Shura and Selion. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone here, but the fact alone that NIS didn't come out with a direct sequel to this game yet is so depressing, it should be counted as a gamingsin.

happy 15th anniversary disgaea 2!!! :3(favorite intro along with 3 and d2.) love etna(her casually sitting on a prinny while throwing knives at them & her standing sexy/badass when explosions go on behind her before flying off with a mischievous smile.:3) & rozalins(that shot of her in the netherworld and shooting the daylights out of everyone while dancing with adell.) moments in the intro the most.(also love laharl & flonne in the beginning along with etna being the first person we see come out of the pot.)

Though one thing that both Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 4 has in common is that their opening actually tells about the story. Disgaea 2 was a bit less clear and more to interpret,and Disgaea 4 was more clear. It was actually so clear that it would take a real clueless person not to be able to see the main point of Disgaea 4.

Lahard is an Overlord though, they have big responsibilities, or so they claim. Etna is not as high in the heirarchy so she's given more leeway in gallivanting her way around the Demon Realms without any demons hunting her down for fame or worrying about taking care of a whole realm. Besides, if Laharl was a main character in any of the following games they'd have to come up wih some excuse to nerf him,like they did with Etna,and that would destroy his awesomeness.

i just really like disgaea 2 since it's the only one in the disgaea series where the main characters are flat out paired up by the end without any romantic tensions unresolved. In the other 3 titles it's only at best implied and never really explored.

Probably a lot more underrated than the other Disgaea games. But I guess it’s because of how the internet was underdeveloped the time this game came to be. Disgaea 2 is something that would take a lot to make and probably understand.

Well, I watched D2's story in English up to chapter 9(the 2nd to last chapter)and it only said "a few years" later(in relation to Disgaea 1) . I am pretty sure Disgaea 2 takes place 10 years after Disgaea 1, and D2 takes place before Disgaea 2.

@nexustehulf Even if you don't like Axel, you have to admit they added a ton of other stuff. Magichange, for starters, the bonus Disgaea 3 based maps and charcters (Mao, Beryl and Champloo if you haven't unlocked them) and about a half dozen or so other new charcters, 3 new classes (Entai, Celesital Host and Death Saber). Axel mode wasn't the only additon (granted you have to go through axel mode once to get the classes and magichange...)

I miss spiky hair and wacky character designs. I miss, screaming out your attacks and damn near shredding your voice box when you power up, I miss all of the old TV tropes that used to be an anime. The problem is not that the old throws are over used A lot of the trucks that we say are over you have been around for centuries and millennia. If you think about it the problem came when the riders started getting lazy and started giving us distillations of the TV tropes that we like instead of giving us good writing.
