In August 2016, I decided to visit one of many different local jobs outside of the BNSF Mainline, and this job was the Los Angeles Junction (LAJ) run through Vernon, CA. This local originates out of The "A" Yard, where cars are received by BNSF's BARLAC MAnifest, which are then transferred on to the LAJ to sort out for another trip. The cars are then sent out again on the LACBAR train back to Barstow. This local is very interesting, as it has 2 different jobs that go to different places in the opposite direction. The one shown here is present throughout the City of Vernon, and serves specific industries within that spectrum. The other LAJ job serves a bit further from the "A" Yard towards Commerce, CA, where it then crosses the LA River making it's way adjacent to the Mainline. In this video you will see the Vernon Job as it uses light power to make pickups and switch cars around at specific plants such as the one near Seville Ave and the Fruitland Team Yard near Leonis Blvd. I like the way this job is operated, and the way this crew decided to lay on GP25 #3170's screeching-loud (but good) Leslie RS3K. All in All, I will have to make a return and see the other job to Commerce because the LAJ is one unique local that is based right near BNSF's Hobart Yard. Special Thanks to my close friend Matthew for inviting me to come down for a visit and describing the LAJ's operations, it's purpose, and it's lineup of locomotives. I hope you all enjoy this video, feel free to like and comment as well as subscribe to my channel for more thrilling compilations of trains in vast locations!
