Yes, I wish more people understood the hard work and engineering, safety details, etc. that go into rigging rides. I toured with a big circus, and rigging the flying trapeze in a different city every day was hard work. The worst was setting it up on a sandy beach with nothing to tie-off to. Oh, I did a carnival gig once when I was 19 with Butler Amusements.

Ferris wheel setup and teardown is EASY compared to some of the other rides. 1 of the worst is the bumper cars - especially when the trailer winch breaks down and you have to take the fricken 600lbs floor plates off by hand.

and go figure it was north american midway's wheel i have to admit it looks far better than it did when we got it from portamount's show. now if they would treat their american crew members as well as they did the south africans it would be an awesome show

i work for a carnival out of wisconsin.and i help set up and tear down our big ferris wheel.and let me tell you.i have done other rides,but the wheel is the biggest pain in the butt ride to do.lol
