Only Yuja would pick this Prokofiev sonata movement as an encore. Not only the creativity of her choice, but she plays the "pants" off it. She is definitely one of the best out there and she is playing more and more with orchestras all over the world. Right now, she is the "queen of the piano." God bless this vivacious, brilliant, and gifted young lady!!!!!

Funny, she skips a few measures toward the end. at about 3:15 when you hear the highest chord (about an octave above any others in this section), it's super obvious bc you're supposed to hear that chord twice - 2 measures apart. In the music, it sounds like she jumped from end of measure 152 to beginning of 157. There's another recording of her doing this song where she does it in full, and chooses to do it faster as well so I'm curious if she just found that section repetitive.
@andresruval3 ай бұрын
Sounds mor elike she just got confused and just carried on (pretty similar chords at the start of those bars, probably didnt even notice at the time). Nothing wrong with that tho, Goulds recording has a pretty obvious wrong note on one of the Ab's from bar 55 onwards, Rubinstein completely forgot a section from the 2nd mov of the 2nd Chopin sonata, etc. Just happens, but the show goes on.
@andresruval3 ай бұрын
On second hearing, notice how on bar 151 she played the chord from bar 155 instead of the Eb major one, so sounds like thats what pulled her towards skiping 153-154 because it happenes twice.
