New Holland CX 8050 combine - Engine Damage? | Mähdrescher mit Motorschaden?

A New Holland CX8050 emits occasionally black clouds of exhaust fumes while threshing. What could be the cause? Engine problems, overload or perhaps a blunt cutter bar?

Ein New Holland CX8050 stößt beim Dreschen hin und wieder schwarze Abgaswolken aus. Was könnte die Ursache sein? Motorprobleme, Überlastung oder vielleicht stumpfe Messer?
Die Aufnahmen entstanden während der Ernte der Wintergerste am 21. Juli 2013 im Calenberger Land in der Nähe von Großgoltern (Region Hannover).

Not a broken machine. Simple (over-)load peaks. Perfectly normal with such a cereal field. The grain is very dense, the straw may not be 100% dry, sometimes matted with grass, and also areas, where the grain is laying down. As a combine operator, performance is to be kept as close as possible to the performance of the threshing drum by precise control of ground speed, which in turn means that the engine itself works most of the time close to its performance limit. , If the grain is interspersed with grass, the straw is not 100% dry or the grain has bearings, the grain does not run evenly into the threshing drum. It then sometimes forms lumps before or in the channel that promotes the grain from the cutting unit in the threshing drum. When these lumps go into the threshing drum, this immediately gives a peak load which the engine acknowledges with a brief drop in speed and often a black exhaust cloud, depending on how much the engine control adjusts the amount of diesel. Other cases for such a peak performance are the too fast adjustment of the hydrostat to "faster" - the mass of the fully loaded thresher can not follow the adjustment immediately, the engine briefly goes to its knees, the injection pump controls quickly. Result: black exhaust cloud. Another possibility for such a power peak would be a short wet piece of field, in which the combine suddenly sinks. In such a moment, the driving resistance increases suddenly to double and triple - result at the end is a black cloud of smoke. If the combine dont get stuck, that is .....;)

Obviously not the engine at fault. It's what is going through the combine - green straw and probably grass. Drum not set up properly in relation to forward speed.

Ich habe ihn ca. eine Woche danach wieder beim Dreschen gesehen. Da hat er keine Rußwolken mehr ausgestoßen. Auch gegen Ende der Ernte lief er noch. Evtl. wurde in der Zwischenzeit repariert.

Umm that engine is running perfectly! It is the rotors slowing the engine down to high moisture product! Our 2588's do the same thing.

Definitely a drum overload, trying to put too much crop through the drum, so normally its if the drivers going too fast or the drum is set too tight

das liegt am Getreide, das Korn ist Reif aber die Pflanze ist noch nicht abgestorben und noch Grün, und n Mähdrescher ist halt kein Grasmäher, er muss sich halt quälen...darum diese Russwolken...normalerweise klebt das Getreide auch nicht so an der Haspel wenn es Reif ist :P

Das hört sich für mich nach Lastspitzen an. Entweder ist das Getreide nicht gut druschfähig oder der Fahrer fährt zu schnell. Dann sammelt sich das Erntegut im Schneidwerk( kann man ja auch ein paar mal sehen z.b. wenn der Fahrer anhält oder rückwärts fährt). Wenn dann so ein Haufen eingezogen wird, zieht das natürlich extrem Leistung. Das zeigt sich durch die schwarzen Wolken und das Geräusch, das der Mähdrescher von sich gibt.

Jap genauso ist es. bei uns laufen auch cx, aber die großen und da ist das genau dasselbe. Ist ganz normal. Das nächste was danach kommt, ist dann das die dreschtrommel zu ist (bei uns Fuchs gefangen genannt), heißt es geht weder vor noch zurück, hilft dann nur noch das fuchseisen( großer ringschlüssel mit verlängerung) und dann wir rückwärts gedreht. Sollte das nicht helfen kommt der riemen ab und ein seil auf die riemenscheibe der dreschtrommel und dann wird mitn traktor gezogen, so dass sie sich rückwärts dreht

I guess its a combination of things, dampness lower down in the crop, dirty air cleaner, maybe concaves set too tight. It did smoke when pulling away so I would check the air cleaner first and its the cheapest option though with modern diesels sensors and ecu come into the equation as well!

Linz 1953 i dont think its the air cleaner diesel only smokes like that in this day in age if its running rich, it may have a fuel injector binding up.

a case of "slugging" due to crop not flowing correctly, slowing down might help crop is also sitting on the knife , but is poorly set combine, should be laughing as chopper is out of use?

It's bad drived combine. In this situation, this machine has to go forward in low speed, because I saw very grass under the wheat... and this volume of grass is more difficult to tresh. The engine is OK!! Regards!!

Sounds like clumps of crop are going through the rotors.... the header not feeding consistently? We had nothing but trouble with NH headers, which is why we have a Macdon flexdraper...

Farming 4G the new holland fronts are fine when they are set up properly, most new holland dealerships just don’t know how to set them up well. However they still don’t work as well as the Macdon’s but the price on Macdon’s is ridiculous theses days

das ist kein motorschaden der gutfluss ist nur ungleichmäßig scheint im lagergetreide zu dreschen das Stroh verknotet sich und die klumpen bremsen dann die dreschtrommel und wenn du Pech hast ist der klumpen so groß das die dreschtrommel blockiert und du quasi nen fuchs gefangen hast viel spaß beim beheben :-)

ich muß Nernekli recht geben es liegt an der Einstellung vom Schneidwerk, der Messerbalken ist zuweit vorne daher fällt das Getreide vor die Einzugswalze und wird wenn sich ein Haufen gebildet hat aufeinmal eingezogen, was dann zu Leitungsspitzen kommt.

The problems is noot the engine.its a pipe that lead tho the turbo.i had that problem on cx840.he lose much power and leet black smoke.later when i look the engine the pipe of the turbo was dameged and he lost presure

Wir lassen auch immer dreschen. Und der wo uns drescht ist auch so ein Drescher nur mit schwarzen Streifen statt blauen, und der Rußt auch schon paar Jahre aber anscheinend nicht schlimm😂

heder is working very badly, smoke can be caused by fail of fuel pomp or bad fuel, or blocked fuel filters. You not using a straw cuter so engine should'nt be overload.

+Zock LP ihr habt ja ne Ahnung. Schonmal nachgedacht das wenn der Motor unter Last ist mehr sprit verbraucht, mehr kraft erzeugen muss ect? Sprich wenn er z.b. den Arm vorne anhebt muss ein Hydraulik System grossen Druck aufbauen. Die Hydraulikpumpe wird vom Motor angetrieben. hebt er den arm hoch macht diese einen Widerstand. Entweder verliert der Motor an Leistung oder die moderne Elektronik passt es an. Deshalb qualmt es in intervallen, weil quasi kurz auf gas gedrückt wird. Schade dass der heutige otto normalverbraucher schlichtweg zu dumm ist soetwas scheiße simples zu wissen.

rcmast3rtract0rking no he is pushing the throttle up to fast so then when you do that you are putting more diesel through the engine than it needs... so the excess fuel comes out of the exhaust as black smoke. there is not much engine damage being done here... its just the operator of the harvester isn't doing such a great job working with the machine.

Wie kann man nur halb reifes Getreide dreschen ??? Not Drusch weil kein Futter mehr vorhanden ist oder wollte da unbedingt jemand das Getreide weg haben um in den Urlaub fahren zu können (alles schon erlebt) ich schätz die Feuchte auf 26-28 % lach.

Masakra jak on jeździ, przecież słychać jak materiał na młocarni wali aż mało wału nie urwie razem z łożyskiem, co on ślepy na zegary nie patrzy ???!!! Widać przecież obciążenie silnika w % jak i straty na sitach które przy takim koszeniu muszą być. Już nie wspomnę o tych jego omijakach... No normalnie po skoszeniu dałbym mu nożyczki i kazał iść i to skosić. Nie po to człowiek sieje i dba o to, żeby ten przyjechal i skosil połowę.... Masakra, 2-3 lata i kombajn do naprawy!!

Den Mähdrescher kenne ich, der ist aus Nordgoltern bei Barsinghausen, den haben sich ein paar Landwirte zusammen gekauft und machen auch Lohndrusch. Ich glaube, die haben es mit der Pflege nicht so, bei dem ist der Luftfilter zu. Kann auch sein, das da ein wenig an der Motorelektronik gebastelt wurde, alá Chiptuning. SLT macht das gern mal. Ausserdem war dieses Jahr die Gerste noch Halmgrün, darum schwer druschfähig.
