Must be done from a usb with windows 10 or 8 installed, then go to 'repair my PC' in bottom left of the installation process screen when going to install windows from USB. Pull up command prompt. Type diskpart , enter. Type List volume, Enter . It should be volume 0, but its whatever volume has the amount of Gigabytes that the locked drive is on. If it's your SSD that is locked , and your SSD is 256 GB . It will say like Volume 0 , 237 GB . This is the one you have to now delete. Type Select Volume 0 ( or whatever volume number has the locked drive , aka your system ssd or hdd ) . After volume is selected, type Delete volume override , enter. Now your drive with the lock on it is deleted and you can reinstall windows from scratch. Hp cloud recovery is the best way to do so now if your computer supports it. Remember this only works in command prompt from computer startup in repair option. Override wont work in normal command prompt while computer is running .

so the simple problem is what you addressed 1st, but your answer, no intentional offense, was ridiculous. i forgot the password, so i obviously cant use it to change it to nothing, and id already know how to change it if i had created it. yours was the 1st video i watched (after 10 pointless 'not ad' video's, as usual, so yea maybe change your first problem/solution a bit, how to bypass it. just a suggestion

Thank you so much for this video. It was absolutely INFURIATING trying to reset my laptop and it saying “Hard Drive is Locked”. This allowed me to unlock it, I couldn’t find this solution other than here. Side note, I had to spam press the F2 key instead of the DEL key. I am using a Toshiba Satelite.

@@melikasfvt7923 The drive is sitting unused. All efforts have failed to access it. The computer that it came out of has also suffered to the extent that I had to instal Linux onto a usb drive to contimue using it as the sata circuitry on the motherboard seems to have died as well.

The only way is to replace the hdd with new and reinstall the OS. Check that when you remove the HD, you can access the bios. Yeah, I'm going through the issue. I think I should be will be looking for Neo kind of technician to crack the HDD password.
