Karen, THANK YOU sooooo much! You made that look so easy, I had read and re-read the directions for this and never could understand. I can hardly wait to use your sample and try this. A great way to get wrapping practice and lacy edge at the same time! Bless you!

Hi Karen, thank you so much for you wonderful videos. They are great references for mastering the needle art of Hardanger. I do have a question. In several books I have of this technique it is suggested to start opposite of the last wrap and work backwards or towards the wrap bar then pass you thread under to the unworked bar and continue. The reason is the buttonhole area is stronger. Also to lay support threads under the path of the lacy edge and to work over these threads as you progress the edge. Do you see any advantage of doing the edge this way. The way you show is so much easier and I thank you for you teaching and input. Keep on stitching, I am watching with anticipation.

Hi Deb. Thank you for your kind words. I have seen the lacy edge done both ways. I do not lay threads to reinforce the edge or stitch the buttonhole the way you describe.. to be honest I use my hardanger pieces every day and I hand wash them and have never had an issue with the edge. Many of my pieces are 20+years old and holding up just fine. I do appreciate you input. I plan on doing some research on which way is better. I am curious also. Thank you ❤️
