I remember this day so clearly. I was sitting at the dinner table and pointed out to the smoke to my mom. We lived in Dover and could see the smoke from our kitchen window. I was about 6 years old

I was five when this happened....still gives me the chills when I think back to this day. I was living in applewood at the time when we heard a huge explosion not to mention my family and a lot of people and the surrounding areas found scrap metal in their yards. R.I.P to those people who lost their lives

It's sad to learn of the loss of life that occurred with this explosion and fire. It looks like it must have been pretty horrific.
@shaunknee34009 жыл бұрын
Wow! I remember that fire watched it for half an hour literally thousands of people and miles of vehicles sitting on the side of road watching. I was about 1 km away where there was a clear view a little south on 52 st . amazing fire huge today expanding foam would end that quickly . I stumbled here while searching how to make expanding foam fire retardant ....memories ....

A gas build up in a processing tank detonated and set off two other explosions at this oil refinery that recycled engine oil and other lubricants.

I was like 5 or 6 at the time, I remember being in a kiddie pool in my back yard in Erin woods heard the loudest noise ever and saw a fireball go over the house, my mom said she thought a train derailed since we had tracks in front of the house it reminds me now of a movie because everyone was standing in the street looking at this massive cloud of smoke and fire, I could see it in Inglewood when I went to my grandmas that night. Now thats some scary shit to see as a kid

i was working for lafarge at the spyhill pit at the time... this was on 85st and 144ave NW and still saw the explosions... it's too bad they weren't on the video cuz i was comparing it to the massive blasts in Tianjin China recently (though not nearly as massive a blast in Calgary, still shook the city)

i heard the explosions from marda loop. i thought it was the fire department at first, they have a training facility not too far south from where hub oil used to be...

@jamesfishin5 жыл бұрын
It’s a foam boss, they are used at the airport. Interesting side note Calgary is the only airport in Canada that is maned with city firefighters at the airport. Everyone else has a private firefighting team.
