This is something I wanted to look in personally but I'm glad you took the time to create this video so I don't have to. 😅 Thank you, all the questions I had concerning HDMI output are answered now. 🙂

Great find! Looking for a similar trick for older Lumix cameras. Or if anyone knows on non-Panasonic MFT cameras with lower HDMI latency

solved my issue. thanks! I was about to go off on viltrox for making such a junky monitor

Excellent - no doubt applies to BGH1, BS1H as well, which are intended for livestreaming and usually don't need to pass audio (and I am considering a purchase of one of them)

Those cameras do not have an lcd or evf so there is less ability to understand where the issue is. It would be interesting to compare the lag over lan with hdmi

Great video! Thank you. There's one thing I'm curious about. I'm curious if HDMI out with LUT applied has any effect on delay time.

Thank you. I'm studying and about to buy a on camera monitor for my GH6. This video is from back in March. It's now Oct. Have things changed for the better with the 2 new updates since March. Also I shoot in 60 often. A lot of the monitors do not support 4K 60P. Can I see use a monitor that does not support 4K 60P? Also can you recommend a good budget monitor for my GH6. around 300 dollars.

Nothing has changed. Field monitors are too small to support 4K display, they will only support 4K input and still display HD unless they are really large. Atomos shinobi is pretty good amzn.to/3fVZBzr

Thank you for this very informative video! I am still debating whether to buy a GH5M2 or a GH6. How bad is the HDMI lag in the GH5M2 when shooting 24P? You note that it is worse than with the GH6 but is it so bad as to be problematic?
@Interceptor1212 жыл бұрын
As per chart at 3:15 is around 190ms that is a pretty long time. But why would you shoot 24p anyway?
@kevinpeer12952 жыл бұрын
@@Interceptor121 That is an excellent question. A friend of mine is shooting a film in the Amazon and is using 23.98fps, so I was following his advice. What frame rate do you recommend for excellent image quality and dynamic range when shooting a documentary film? The options are rather mind-boggling.
@Interceptor1212 жыл бұрын
@@kevinpeer1295 the frame rate depends on where you intend to watch it really

The other issue for me is the GH6 will not display the timecode value when connected to a monitor. It won't show it on the GH6 display or the external monitor. It only shows the letters TC but no value.
@Interceptor1212 жыл бұрын
What do you want to do with the timecode on an external monitor?
@ScissorVixens2 жыл бұрын
@@Interceptor121 I use the timecode reading to record video for a specified amount of time. Such as a 10, 15 or 20 minute video. The problem is...I often cut during recording so every time I cut...the recording counter sets back zero. The way I have timecode configured in the settings...it keeps the total run time of the recording. So, if I'm shooting a 15 minute clip and stop recording after 4 minutes and then resume...timecode will resume from 4 minutes and not zero out.

This lag is way worse in low light when taking astro photos and or using an nd filter.
@Interceptor121 Жыл бұрын
The lag depends on the frame rate. If you are shooting with live view boost this drops a lot it is not possible to correct that it is normal
