Thank you so much for the video! I'd love to see more videos like this for other AV distribution equipment with updated testing for changed or new products. It makes it a lot easier to watch one of these videos than to scroll through posts on the websites when I'm researching something. Maybe make one of these general videos once a year or so? If that's not cost effective, maybe a public database with the testing results could achieve the same thing?

I'd really love to see an HDMI 2.1 switcher with two simultaneous outputs. The idea here would be to connect things like the PS5 and XSX to it and send one output to the TV for video and the other output to a receiver for audio. Right now I use eARC, but the LG C9 I have has a bit of processing delay, especially when using Dolby audio, so I have to use LPCM instead. I suppose one day I could get a newer receiver that supports HDMI 2.1, but... that's not guaranteed to not add lag, so at least the option of a switcher that does what I want would be nice.
@wchill1337
@wchill1337 2 жыл бұрын
Look into the HDFury 8K VRROOM. It's basically the best switcher you're ever going to find. Pricy though. I have their older Vertex2, which works fine since I'm only running 4k60, and I have my AV setup similar to how you're describing.
@nickglover
@nickglover 2 жыл бұрын
I believe that is also true (even just using Atmos for Headphones has lag), but it happens with PS5 as well, so there's also some issues on the TV side.

Biggest and only real dissatisfaction with xbox series x and I imagine the PS5 as well. Bugs me almost everyday. In my setup, I'm either stuck with dolby surround with delay and without VRR or stereo without delay with VRR. I have been choosing dolby surround (5.1) but it hurts to see lips, gun shots etc... and audio not sync everytime I play.

Another neat feature that the EZCOO matrix switch offers is the ability to connect to your PC via USB and run the software to configure the EDID settings on each port exactly the way you want. The software will let you set Audio (ATMOS, 5.1), resolution, etc.

Is there a HDMI 2.1 splitter you would recommend that would also still allow a PS3 to work with a capture card? Looking for something that's very much a one size fits all solution rather than having to mess around with multiple devices. I've seen Ezcoo have a HDMI 2.1 Switch, but unsure if that'll allow a capture card to receive an image from the PS3 or not.

Time for a new updated video for 2024 on 4k@120hz 8k@60hz 4x1 through 8X1 HDMI switches! I'm desperate to figure out how to update my system connections. Along with the points you make on this video I'm specifically interested to know which ones are the best to support @120hz and display the selected input on a single HDMI display. I might be picking up TWO BZBGear BG-8K-HS41 for my needs but am wonder if there might be a 8x1 and higher that would be better or equal. At the moment I can find anything and one of my worries is if I'd have issues with two as they have IR remotes. The last time I had two HDMI switches together they get their wires (or IR) crossed when using the remote from one of the switches.

I have two 34 inch widescreen monitors of the same native resolution (3440x1440). I need to have two switched inputs to both monitors (a PC and a Laptop). I bought an Orei 2 in/2 out switch that allows me to switch inputs to each monitor. However, Windows will not recognise the second monitor for extending the desktop, it will only allow copying of the input to both screens. I am thinking this is due to the switch functionality in seperating the input signal to the two outputs whereas I thought the input would be shared to the two outputs. What do I need to allow the two inputs to go to the two outputs as a shred output signal. Is a splitter the right thing for me?

I have an old Epson projector from 2009 but I cant get any HDMI picture to show up on my screen. The menu pops up but no video signal pops up. Is it possible that the HDMI ports on my projector are old and outdated that they can't pass today's video signals? I tried a spliter that works with a 2021 model with no problems but does not work with my 2009 model. I also tried to just plug in devices DIRECTLY like a BD player, streamer etc. all with no joy. And gain, my 2021 has no problem passing the video signal. I also did the handshake unplug, reverse connect but still no video. My old Epson is an 6500UB model with 2 HDMI 1.3b ports. @yubos98 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Bob, and thanks for the detailed review of all these switches and splitters! I have an alternative version of the matrix switch shown starting at the 10 minute mark. Basically the same functionality, but a more square design and a different DAC(I suppose) with two 3.5 mm outputs and 2 SPDIFs. But that's not what I want to talk about. What I want to talk about is one thing that's exactly the same as with the one shown in the video - that GARBAGE included power supply. To anyone who might have it: I do not suggest using it if you have any kind of gear that's sensitive to EMI (and I know you do, you sweet analog-loving chum, you). When connected to the matrix, it would create terrible high-frequency whine akin to coil whine and all my HDMI sources would have a very distinct noise in their audio signals kinda similar to ground loop. I was going insane for a couple of days. Threw that power supply out and replaced it with a known good one - yup, works like a charm. No whine, no noise. Maybe I got a bad batch, maybe the unit shown in the video does not have this same problem, but considering they all come most likely from the same factory, and that power brick looks exactly the same, I'd wager it's not the best thing in the world when it comes to EMI shielding. Just a simple buyer beware. If you happen to notice something like what I described above, don't pull your hair out, it's an easy fix, but it's annoying nonetheless.

@@zoiks6631 I just got the retro tink 5x pro. It's amazing! And works a lil better with a m classic! Pricy but pretty baller! But yeah. DON'T use a splitter with this thing. It simply wont work. My advice? ONLY get the 5x pro retro tink for upscaling compant cables. Just switch out the companant cables for whatever companant cable friendly console you're messin with. Dream cast, ps2, xbox orig, game cube, wii original etc etc... It's GREAT for companant cable to hdmi upscaling. I'd argue it's the main go to feature of the 5x pro.

I would be interested to know if any of the really basic 2 in 1 out HDMI switches that don't need to be powered would distort image/sound quality and lag. I asked one company named UGREEN that makes switches about this stuff and they said "there is a certain attenuation" (loss of signal strength) when the switch is in use. I need one because my PS3 needs to bypass HDCP for the Retrotink 4K and the switch functionality is needed because I'm out of HDMI ports on my TV.

The really basic switches won’t allow for PS3 compatibility. At the moment, the best PS3 solution I’ve found is older, 1080p HDMI splitters. But I’m still keeping my eyes open for new products and will try to find better solutions

You have GOT TO fix the wobble on you table bro.... it's making me sea sick LOL I'm guessing it's one of those hollow plastic top folding tables.... we ALL know just how bad they move around.... I think I saw someone talking about tying a string between the legs possibly fixing it, or putting something very VERY heavy on the inside of each of the legs and trying to push them outwards to hold the legs more steady..... idk.... maybe I'm even wrong about the type of table you're using... but you can figure it out just for your future videos that require a close of products on that table :) - I just wanna help ya out, I hope I wasn't offensive or anything... now back to the splitters for me! :D

I have a TV with three HDMI inputs and a gazillion game consoles, so I'm looking for an HDMI switch that has a gazillion inputs. The TV also has a complex menu system that makes it a pain to switch HDMI inputs. So I want to leave my TV set to one HDMI input and use the switch to switch among inputs. So I have an HDMI switch, but it's a "smart" switch that switches to the active source automatically, and this is a pain in the poo-poo hole because if I turn on my PS4 for example, that makes the TV turn on automatically, and that makes all my other game consoles turn on automatically, and the switch switches to one of the other consoles, so I have to switch it back to the console I turned on. I want a "dumb" HDMI switch that doesn't do this!

About the “Matrix Switch w/ Audio Extraction” whenever I plug my ossc, the audio wouldn’t play through the hdmi output. Instead it just extract the audio. I even tried with the output B and it did the same thing.

I think I need some help here cause I am not sure how to do it. I got an Odyssey G5 monitor with one HDMI input, I want to connect my MacBook and my PS5 but I also want to extract the audio from the PS5 and send it over my audio interface (either analog or digital connection). I am thinking, I will run the hdmi cable from my PS5 to an hdmi audio extractor and then the hdmi output from the extractor to an hdmi switcher, which also the MacBook will be connected to it, and then the hdmi switcher out to the monitor? Is this doable or it will downgrade the picture quality or whatever? Thank you in advance! 🙏

Which extractor do you recommend to get ATMOS from Netflix to my soundbar using PC? 13:00 I'll tell you the exact reason for the HDMI audio extractor You have multiple HDMI devices on a hub AKA 8x1 some don't have arc optical or coaxial out or you want to listen to it via headphones or Bluetooth you need a pass-through like this perfect example my setup HDMI 2x1 daily use product (1) (2) all the entertainment equipment that is off on a 8x1 and far away from the receiver tv from there go to the ark extractor so I can have any and all things go to the entertainment sound system or a Bluetooth adapter for private listening KZbin making etc etc when you're using older equipment originally or far distant equipment TV and one in entertainment in the other all these products have a perfectly good combinational mode use again my setup Starting from final end going backwards 00-Optical to Bluetooth 01-HDMI ARC 02-1x4 (splits to four different TVs same source) 02b extremely long hdmis or HDMI to ethernet 03-2x1 HDMI manual switcher 04a primary media source (daily always on) 04b full entertainment system sources (mostly always off safe power) 05-8x1 entertainment devices including Xbox PlayStation bdp Nvidia Shield etc etc etc And prior to all this I had a CRT TV so it used to go from all of this so we'd have an additional downgraders Which were HDMI to RCA RCA to coaxial 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😭😍😋🥰 This is what happens when you work with old technology new technology and trying to get the best you can get out of it and the easiest functionality you can get out of it and it's what's called patchwork on low budgets

I should've saved my last comment from your previous video since you made an entire video about the HDMI switchers lol. Very detailed and informative, great stuff. I know you're probably busy, but would you like to try out my Extron DXP DVI Pro for a video geared towards 1080p users? It works fine even though I don't use it anymore (got a good 4K 60hz 8x8 matrix switcher to replace it) so long as your input source is 1080 or lower. I'm willing to lend it to you and send it to your place at no expense on your side. I've watched your content for a long time and I feel like I should help pay you back for all the awesome info you've given us over the years. @@RetroRGB Amazing, I perceived less audio lag with my own senses using the Nintendo Switch with that audio extractor. Even compared to the TV speakers. It even works with the Sonos using the supplied spdif to HDMI. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 8k60 Audio extractor which I think would work with the PS5. Strangely though I don't notice an audio delay with PS5 to LG C1 and Sonos. Its set to pass through. Is it possible the tv is better equipped to handle that signal compared to previous Gen consoles?
