they are a lot smaller actually. i think W engines are about 1 inch in diameter in lore. my assumption is that their weapons have little spots where the w engines are stored

Its music player (the Chinese translation is sound engine), that's why the artifact/relic equivalent in this game is disk. The characters equip this to their weapon to boost and empower their attacks jn combat.
