This series is the most interesting I’ve seen on KZbin in quite a while.

My one and only inverted spin : I was taking aerobatic lessons in a Bucker Jungmann, few hours into the course, still flying with instructor going trough the aerobatic program. He showed me an Immelman, after tapping his hand on his head it was the signal I had control and it was my turn to do the same figure. I gained as much speed I could (=some dive) then pitched up nicely until inverted, then departed controlled flight with an inverted spin. I remember seeing the big public swimming pool turning round around my head below. Instructor debriefed me that I got to slow inverted and when I applied full aileron to do the half turn to normal flight the aircraft departed controlled flight. I don't think I could have recovered by myself at this stage of the course. Now later on the same figure was much easier flying trough because no instructor = less weight and more poser reserve at the top of the figure.

Interesting watching. Not sure how much I'd want to be flying a helicopter without any previous hovering experience though. Lots of other 'normal' things done in helicopters that a fixed wing pilot might try that could end very badly!

Yes that seemed amazing to me, his first flight ever in a rotary wing and he lands it himself. Reminds me of Eric Brown, the most decorated test pilot with the Fleet Air Arm. I read that he had to fly a helicopter without any previous experience, which he did from take off to landing. You can understand why only a very select few make it to become qualified test pilots.
