I rewatched this scene with the dad trying to sooth the kid to not crying. He's been abandoned so many times that it's soooo heart breaking. Unfortunately his story just reflects some of the traumas that children in really poor regions in China, where the wife or dad just abandons the family because the financial stability is weak. Children are precious and shouldn't have to deal with hardships. And it comes to show that if people aren't ready (mentally and emotionally), they can't provide a happy, stable (I don't mean just money wise) family. I've seen families that stuck together even though the parents were working all the time. They brought their kid along (I do understand not every workplace allows that) to where they go. Maybe it's not going to be in this lifetime, but perhaps in another lifetime, each workplace or the office building they work in can provide discounted or free daycare so parents' can be near their children and still provide the proper care needed. Or maybe provide that as an alternative option to people who do not want to take the full 6-8 months of parental leave. I think it's always good to give people choices.
