the anime was kinda fun but it had too many issue for me to really get into it. Personally found most of the fights to be uninteresting due to how clearly outclassed the enemies were. The protagonist's mechs were way superior to the enemies. Also werent there multiple people with the same powers as the MC, why was he the only one who seemed to go crazy. The mc not wanting other people to pilot the mechs cause they wouldnt be human makes no sense considering the consequences are comparatively minor, especially since they were fighting a war where every mech was needed. The risk for using the mechs and going crazy also never seem to have any major consequences, its like he just gets angry and tries to attack people but because of how weak he is he always gets shut down immediately before he can do anything. Really downplays the drawbacks.

@qstar1237 the reason he doesn't want other to pilot the mech its your lifeforce that powers it meaning using mch u will die using it if not in battle that exactly happens to haruto because he was the earliest to pilot it and when he uses that big move where he destroys an entire fleet with one move that took away alot of his lifeforce which the aftereffects shown when his lifeforce is almost depleted one of the symptoms is losing your memory bit by bit until u die. None of the symtoms happen to surviving pilots because they havent used the mech as long and as much as haruto did

@@lazyboi215 Well no, not really. It seemed to be the case that only Haruto's mech kills its pilot for some reason that I don't recall ever being actually explained at any point in the show. In the flashforward scenes, the girl who pilots the green mech uses her mech for centuries with no side effects. The show tried to be super dramatic and thematically deep, but doesn't give enough depth to its storytelling or characters to provide the show with any actual substance. Valvrave overall just had really weak writing.

@@corvus9359 depend on how often they used the red mecha one because the red is like the core unit and he give power to other mecha in first place haruto doesnt let anyone pilot the red one because he doesnt want to make other become a "monster" like him, but then after they know what the fueling the valvrave his doenst anyone losing the memories i mean, give him a break. he high school boys and after he saw pilot die and become a goo after he trying to piloting valvrave unit he become protective like that

@@sadewo1516 In the show, everyone who uses a Valvrave becomes a "monster." The girl who pilots the green one shows that every Valvrave pilot is able to fully heal from wounds that would otherwise be fatal and can transfer their minds into anyone they bite. The only difference is that for whatever reason only the red one consumes people's memories (which also somehow kills them for some reason). The writing of Valvrave is just shallow. They tried to come up with all these deep thematic conflicts that are supposed to be super emotional, but the writers never actually flesh out any of these ideas to the point where the just seem like they're thrown in there for no particular reason, leaving the show as a jumble of barely half-baked eye-candy. For example, a big plot point was the kids becoming nearly immortal from piloting the Valvraves. When you get right down to it, there was no actual reason why the Valvraves had to turn their pilots into basically vampires. The only reason this becomes relevant to the story at all is when the other governments to to kill them because of it, meaning that the only reason the writers made it this way was so that there would be something to fight about later. We're told that the other governments out there view this as becoming "inhuman" and decide to commit genocide on them, but we're never given any reason why they think this. It's just frustrating to watch because the people in this show just come to the stupidest conclusions and the most braindead decisions every step of the way. If you want a show that actually demonstrates kids piloting mechs with consequences, and does it well, watch Fafner in the Azure.

@@shivamarya5225 Valvrave is not good for a mecha show. I wanted to like this show, I really tried, but there are so many better mecha shows out there that put this one to shame. Fafner, Full Metal Panic, Code Geass, and at least 80% of Gundam shows are miles better written than this show to name a few. When it comes to nation politics, at it's best it's not much different from any other anime that involves different factions in a space setting. At it's worst, it's just nonsensical. Like the people in this universe have created dyson spheres, giant mechas, and efficient space travel, but suddenly accelerated regeneration is treated like it's the work of the devil. How this show managed to get approved for 2 seasons is a mystery to me.

i mean the things you mentioned are just sci-fi elements, not plot. And dyson spheres arent really technically impossible or something they're just huge and require a lot of material, theoretically speaking making one is easy if you have infinite resources and accelerated regeneration really is harder to achieve even theoretically its impossible to just gain mass or program cells to make body mass from air, with ridiculously accelerated chemical reactions and all, plenty of franchises mix sci-fi with mythology and fantasy. And the sci-fi elements arent really what makes the show for me. I need good character development, and this series had plenty, If you dont like it then thats totally fine, these things are subjective

You know what I don't understand about this anime is a group of people who didn't care about their concept of working with everyone else separated from the main station and went off with their own way and the main station is throwing every resource they have to destroy this colony it makes no sense I think if someone wants to separate from a space colony they should be given engines and then tell them good luck out there in the space with all those ships and resources they have they can easily go to a planet and claim it for themselves but they end up wasting all that resource to destroy a small colony of people it makes no sense it's just downright stupid
