That 'no magic' isn't accurate. He has magic, it's just that he is more... thorough... in activation. So he takes longer to do magic. However, that extra time means he understands it better and can do more with it. He also has higher capacity, so what he does can have more oomph or even last longer. He also deals with his speed by using special gear specially rigged to speed up some of his magic. And he has a very powerful magic that is constantly in standby, that automatically triggers when needed. Basically... they promote the race car magic users, but he is a massive tank released on the race track.

Well, then there is the additional time to consider what I'm trying to say and also read over it to try to catch any typos that could cause interpretation issues. To put it bluntly, if it wasn't for his immortal code (Eidos) taking up 90% of his total magic capabilities, he would be able to do way more than most of the world combined. This was said in the 2nd season of the anime, that the protocol and code for Eidos that continually "Backs up" his vitality, and body data continuously eats his magic power. As far as his gear speeding up his activation, that's mainly to combat his already depleted power. The very thing that brings him back to life makes him weak.

I stopped after a bit because it's completely wrong and/or misses much of the context. Tatsuya was born and gifted from the prayers of the entire clan after they suffered massive trauma. They wanted a superbeing to help protect the clan. His powers are god-tier and incredible but initially were very restricted. The clan feared them so much and his potential to literally destroy the world that they turned him into a warrior/soldier from a very young age. They also lobotomized his emotional range and focused it only onto his sister as a secondary level of control, while also implanting the ability to use more 'generic' magic. To most of the clan he was deemed a misfit and relegated to bodyguard status for his sister, but the reality is much deeper. If anything, his sister is supposed to act as something of a collar or leash for Tatsuya, to keep him grounded and prevent him from destroying the world. This is done both through the forced emotion dampening and magical geas/seals. In reality his sister was brought into being because of Tatsuya's potential and the fear of what he could do. His sister was groomed to be the successor of the clan not only because of her own prodigious talents, but to keep Tatsuya loyal.

This is definitely one of those cases where the recap is better than the anime. The recap glosses over the absurd amount of repetitive nonsense that goes on, such as Miyuki constantly simping over Tatsuya (yay incest /sar) or the whole "woohoo us powerful students are way better than you" before getting outmatched in some way. It just got so boring with how predictable it was, and later on the anime seemed to rely on the Gross/gore factor in order to try and keep interest. tl;dr Recap is better than anime itself, you're not missing anything.

As someone who's read a lot of this I just have to point out that the MC isn't someone who doesn't have any magic power and it wasn't that he couldn't use magic after being born. Instead how it works is that through genetics and changing peoples DNA + stuff people can use magic and most of them make up of magic clans or families. These clans/families then often time has a specific type of magic their bloodline is especially skilled at using or has some kind of special ability. However how this works is that pretty much all magic is stored in the brain and takes up space sort of comparable to a harddrive. So normally a skilled magician might have let's say 100GB of space to store magic, however if they are born with a special ability, affinity or something then that might take up 10GB of the total 100GB space of storage. People with abilities like these are often called supernatural ability users and not magicians since these abilites are often one dimensional compared to magic that can do pretty much whatever. However in the MC's case he was born with two abilities that was so powerful that they made up of 100gb of his total 100gb space so he was unable to use "magic" outside of his two abilities. The clan he was part of was one of the most powerful magic clans in the world and saw it as extremely shameful that the MC couldn't use normal magic so they decided to perform an experiment that would allow his total "storage" of 100gb to increase so that he could use magic. However to do that they had to make space in his brain so the way they did that was by removing ever other emotion then the love he would have for his sister, so that he could in the future become a loyal slave/servant that worked for his sister. However what they failed to take into account was how powerful the two abilities he held that took up all of his storage space was, so they pretty much broke the MC so that they could free up another 5-10gb of space so that he could use magic like an average magician. His special powers are classified as decompositon and regrowth basically he can break down anything into basic psions (the magic element) and he can "regrow/recreate" anything from basic psions. In short he holds the twin powers of descruction and creation. But yeah in short the MC always had magic power it's just that his magic power wasn't flexible and could only be applied in two fields which made the clans leadership unhappy since they couldn't have a family member who couldn't use diverse "magic". The MC was already the strongest from birth because of his abilities pretty much though he does become even stronger by being able to use normal magic as well. Another problem is that he can't exactly use decomposition in everyday life since it litterly erases someone or something from existence. His powers has some weaknesses though because of his removal of emotions those are mostly gone. For instance to use his regrowth ability to heal a wound on a human he has to "read" the information of the dmg taken which let's him feel the pain the person wounded felt when wounded but also all the pain they've felt up to being healed in an instant. Which would drive a normal person crazy or at least make them fearful to ever use the ability again but since he can't feel fear and only feel the physical pain he doesn't hesitate to use it over and over again.

I would recomend looking up the web novel for this, for the information from it, except for the minor fact that due to a "publishing" error the first twenty pages are ALL the first page. Sigh, the info about the MC's back story is refuted by info in the second and third parts, which were both written and published long before the first part was. The first part is actually a "flashback", after the second part, but before the third part. There IS a fourth anime, that covers the story after the third anime. Good luck.

It’s actually a lot deeper and complicated than this. Spoiler ahead: The mother and aunt kind of created him to be supremely OP and took away his emotions except for the care of his sister as a fuck you to the world. Like the aunt was kidnapped as a little girl and raped a bunch of times by terrorists who were against the Yotsuba family. After they rescued her, they used mental manipulation magic to get rid of all the emotions like sadness up to that point to deal with the trauma. To her though, this essentially killed her as as person since all the good feelings were also gone. Fast forward to when Tatsuya was in his moms womb, they kind of like prayed or something that the kid would be powerful enough so that he could overcome whatever bullshit the world had and it worked because magic and other reasons. Then they linked him to his sister as a kind of regret thing. Like they couldn’t save the aunt so they made it so that Miyuki would always be saved. Having a supremely powerful individual that can basically do whatever the fuck he wants who doesn’t give a shit about the world was their kind of revenge and fuck you to fate. Is what I remember.
