They used to show this movie along with La Familia, Boys in the Hood and dont be a Menace to juveniles delinquents in order to scare them. It acted as a glorification of that culture and it reinforced the lifestyle.

I was born and raised in inner city San diego during the 70s and 80s. I'm a white boy. Most of my friends were hispanic.I remember the very first run in with racism was being jumped by 2 black teens and a Mexican teen when I was 6. They were like 14 and 15 in the 9th grade. Same school as my brother and sister.the reason I got jumped was my family were good friends with a family 4 doors away from us. If I wasn't home playing with their son and daughter I was at their house.the brother was 5 and the girl 6. I had a huge crush on her. She was a pretty Mexican girl and grew up to be a stunner. Well those 3 teens tried taking her behind a store next to our school to do naughty things to her. Her brother saw me asked for help. As I saw them surround her one unzipped his pants and I ran up behind him and did my best impression on a nil kicker on the teens nads. I yelled run get my brother.they started beating me somibrolled into a ball they started kicking me until a teacher at my school stopped and chased them off. Luckily I just walked away with bloody nose a few bruises. He took me home which was just a few blocks. We pulled up as my bro was coming out. I was more worried about bleeding on the teachers car than my bleeding mose. She laughs and says its ok dear. She was a good teacher. The next day mom didn't send me to school and my bro ditched came got me from home and we waited outside with like moo his friends who adored our family and would do anything for us. Bro asked if you see 3m point em out. I'm like there th3ybare. All 3 right there. They saw me pointing and a bunch of kids coming at em they ran but didn't get far. They got what they deserved. Then my family moved to an even rougher place. Gang members and drug dealers everywhere in that neighborhood. One of my friends dad o.d.'d in the street andmi ended up finding him and had to tell his auntie o tell him. Lots of gangs.one family stood out in the neighborhood hough. The Ortiz family. They were a family of boxers from m3xico. They took down 3 walls of their garage and built a boxing ring innit. They had posters of past fights by their grandpa, uncles and dad in places all, over mexico on the retaining wall. They were cool with me because the youngest Eddie saw me stand up to 2 guys and whoop em when i was 12. I wasn't wasn't boxer but a brawlermplus I learned tae kwon do. I was a blue belt at the time I won that fight but if Eddie Ortiz gave you credit that was a big thing. His brother was in prison for almost beating 2 cops to death. For feeling up his girlfriend during a traffic stop.he did it barehanded. that family were vicious. I'm glad I was on their good side.in late teens I was dealing pot to my school friends and got to kmow some people pretty high up in the local gangs butni kept my bills paid and shit out of the drama. Thybresp3cted thatm8 was never late with payment. I always came with money up front I never took anything that made me beholden to them. I knew the gang signs I knew the lingo I knew what and who to stay away from. One of my white friends had a brother in a kinh3ad group and he asked me to join since I'm German and snow white. I'm like bro there's no way. I'm more afraid of my father than any gangs or cops lol. If he knew i was sellig anything hed have kmocked the crap out of me. Plus the potmi sold to the guu was coming from mexicans so i wouldnt be able to et anymifmi reped skinhead g4oup. B3sides i had colored people in my family and friend group. Only reason I was talking to him was a I had a few Nazi Germany coins from 1939 I needed to sell. My father wanted themmoutmof the house. He was a true blue, patriotic American who flight in Vietnam. But yeah thenhispanic gang culture invades every family back th3n.

If you’re going to take the time to watch a movie and do a recap. Take the time to get your facts straight. It’s like someone going up to a Spanish person and just assuming they are Mexican. They could very well be Puerto Rican, Argentinian, Peruvian or from any other Latin American country.
