Man… as someone who works at Kawasaki, that engine breaking/break in period was the most nonsense excuse for why he crashed. Hope your buddy is alright and learns from this experience.

Interesting crash analysis except for a couple minor things. He was going slow. I mean seriously, he was going slow. You looked to be doing about 45-ish and he wasn't going that much faster. That turn was 💯 doable at the speed he was going. You say he's an experienced rider and normally rides a 1000cc and takes that turn all the time ... ok, then that turn should have been no problem. It had nothing to do with downshifting, it had nothing to do with engine braking. All he had to do was coast thru the gentle bend in the road. If he was in 6th gear that was a horrible gear to be in on a ZX6R at that speed. He was turning 5500 rpm at best so of course there's no engine braking. If you have to brake, which he didn't, you simply have to use a little front brake and everything is ok. The real cause of this crash was 💯 rider error because for some reason he didn't bother trying to turn. He decided to run off the road instead. Glad your buddy is ok and kept it upright. As for the rim, my guess is the 2024/23/22 rims are the same exact size. The tire is a 120/70ZR17 which kinda defines the rim size. In fact, good news. I did look up the OEM fron rim and the 2025/24/23/22 (and maybe more) rims are all the same Kawi part number which means they're the same rim. If 2025 parts aren't yet available maybe the other model years are because that part number is used all over the place.

u guys should practice riding when there is no traffic and use the limited throttle mode on ur bikes till you build muscle memory, slight mistakes like that can be fatal in traffic. pls stay safe and ride within your limits

Brandon definitely could have prevented this by applying some common sense, He accelerated into that corner, Made no attempt to lean into the corner and only tried braking at the last minute. He didn't need engine braking he needed more than 4 of his braincells firing off at the same time. Main thing is he isn't injured a dented rim is an easy fix at least he didn't dump it and really mess it up.
