Actually, when you see guys "taking accountability" after some time has passed since whatever they did they are putting on a performance. Emotional reactions fade pretty fast for the majority of people. There is a funny Reddit discussion about how public figures have to make a decision at events where television viewers expect a reaction of a certain kind, and they have to choose between being phony during a somber event or else being real and getting accused of not caring.

That was stolen from me… along with EVERY SINGLE ability to view the world/people as a good place… The lifetime of mental health issues, self worth issues, sexuality issues, addiction all of it…. I AM NOT A VICTIM. I do struggle though. Even now. Having said all of that, unless someone on that board has been through an assault like that, they could never truly grasp the trauma that it in flicks on the person. There are so many levels, like an onion, of things, that kind of abuse affects. There is not a single layer of my life that has not been touched by the abuse that I suffered as a little girl and as a teenager. I will never understand how sex offenders typically have the least amount of time that they are sentenced to. Someone trafficking drugs gets more time than an offender. Hell, someone possessing a little pot can end up with more time than a sex offender. It’s absolutely disgusting and wrong. I hope that lady has found some form of healing and coping mechanisms to deal with the aftermath of what was stolen from her. 🥺😡😔

I have lived in a major city, and now live in the backwoods. Parents raise kids to accept or not, "backwoods" has nothing to do with it. I do agree with the rest of your statement.

"I ruined my life over one night. I wish i could take it back" Thats bullshit. There was no emotion in that statement. If this poor woman has to live with ptsd, horrifying nightmares, and trauma of the worst kind for the rest of her life, than he should be locked under the prison and suffer through the rest of his.
