He judge ordered him to do it and whoops, his OWN NOTES said Mr. Nance had asked for an attorney. This is not opinion--its in the court transcript. The cop said one thing then when confronted with his own notes, said different.

None of them sends sixteen year olds to prison for murder when they didn't pull the trigger. They made him responsible for something he simply didn't do. There's a big difference between carrying a gun and actually shooting it at a person. Anyone who has ever held one can testify to that. Human rights are for everyone, including prisoners of all kinds. They are inalienable. People can change, they can change a lot. Even adults can reform, especially those who were mostly a product of a bad environment. None of us exist on our own. I read your comments and all I see is anger and hate. Those two rarely lead to justice. Keeping this guy in prison is an injustice.

If you take part in a crime and while committing that crime someone is murdered you will be charged with the death- no matter your race. The young man that was murdered doesn't get a second chance. He was a "child" but had a 2 year old baby and was down to rob a store with a gun- at least his family still gets to talk to him.

In any normal country, this guy would've gone into juvie for a few years and be rehabilitated before reaching 25. The guy pulling the trigger would probably be declared criminally insane and be institutionalised for life. If he's not insane, and can be rehabilitated, he would get around twenty years over here.

Normal country? When it comes to violent crime and sentencing I'll take our punitive measures over any other country in the west. This specific example I'm not 100% sure of and I don't like the 16 year olds getting enormous sentences but in general I definitely prefer our punitive sentencing when it comes to violent crime compared to Germany, Canada Great Britain Etc. Let someone close to you be murdered and see their killer get 15 years and then be paroled... you'll change your mind. Once again I'm not referring to this specific example

Had he been white, i dont believe he would have been sentenced so harshly. US private prisons are full of black people, especially young black guys, with no end. I’ve been around crazy people like the Manning guy and they can be scary enough to make you do stuff you would never get involved in. Luckily I never got in this kind of situation but have been around people that this could have happened. Luckily I was smart enough to get away from people like that. I hate violence and robbing etc. but when you are young I can understand how some people could get one caught up in this terrible situation. I don't hear anyone having any compassion for the Radio Shack store manager who was killed by these dangerous criminals or his family who, I am sure, miss him, his love, affection, attention, and paycheck dearly and daily. If you commit a crime or conceals a crime that results in the death of the victim whether you were the person who pulled the trigger or just someone who was there assisting, aiding and abetting or supporting in any meaningful manner, you're lucky to have a 51-year sentence as opposed to life without parole. Everything considered, this person did what he was convicted of. If it were me or mine who was killed, the sentence would be considered lenient.

Close family member of two murder victims here. I have absolutely no sympathy for this individual. If you actively participate in the crime, and were going to share in the proceeds, then you're just as guilty as the one pulling the trigger. The only quibbles I have are that the sentence should be life without possibility of parole, and all three should serve the same term.

I lost interest/sympathy when the race baiting began. The girl was sitting in the car, unarmed, when the 20 year old store manager was murdered. The Ameer guy was in the store and holding a gun. Furthermore, the psycho killer and Ameer were friends/associates. The conversation about how Psycho Robert had shot someone else earlier in the day, told Ameer what " I gotta get me some money" meant.
