I skipped to the last 15, and you're absolutely right. Despite at least knowing his mother is verbally abusive, he never protects her, no one ever turns the mother over to the police, and even at the end, the mother is still bullying the girl. He does sign the divorce paperwork as he's telling her he's going to chase her, still allowing the mother to be a b* and then gives her flowers, and she forgives him.

What's wrong with him is that he's written as a weak, disrespectful jerk. Even if he didn't know she was being physically abused, he knew his mother was humiliating and belittling her when he WAS around, and apparently is too useless to bother thinking about how much worse it might be when he's not. His ONLY redeeming quality is that he does actually care for the Fl, just not enough to pay attention to or protect her. To be fair, the Fl should NEVER have let it go on that long. She should have moved out and called the police.

Actually, she divorced him. And she's not the only wimp in this. His mother constantly makes comments about the wife putting her down and trying to make them get a divorce, and all he ever does is tell her to stop. The Fl should have turned the MiL over to the police, but the Ml should have cut ties with his mother long ago when she didn't stop. Instead, he just kept going 'stop it' and not doing anything about it. They were weak together.

Edited to say: I didn't watch the whole thing I skipped to the end because it was pissing me off, and I was partially right. In the last like 15 minutes, he and the mother still didn't believe her, he still doesn't do anything about his mother. The mother never got in trouble and tried to bully the girl right up till her end, when she begged for forgiveness, and rhen threatened her. The leads got back together, even though he and his mother never changed, and the police, the Ml, the Fl, her family, none of them ever investigated thw MULTIPLE kidnappings the mother set up. She never told him how much he hurt her and they never discussed the loss of the child. He does finally give her a divorce, but signs the papers as he's telling her he's going to chase her, and she immediately gives in when he sends her some flowers....and his mother verbally abuses her again. Wow, this frustrated me more than I thought. Her husband is a weak idiot and doesn't respect his wife at all and who knows his mom is at least verbally abusing her but does nothing about it. She puts up with it because of course she does. It costs her her unborn baby, and finally creates enough doubt that when she thinks he's having an affair and going to divorce her anyway, she leaves him. Honestly, it doesn't seem to upset him as much as the fact that she's hanging out with someone WITH THE SAME LAST NAME! But of course even knowing his mother kicked her out, is verbally abusive to her, is trying to force them to get a divorce, and probably had a hand in her miscarriage, he's going to believe mommy dearest when she says the Fl is having an affair. Trying to decide if I'm going to watch it to the end, knowing that the mother and green tea will probably not be punished, and the leads will get back together, although he does seem to have feelings or her, just not enough to actually take care of her. I do kind of understand her keeping her identity from him when they first got married. If her family disowned her, there's no point in letting these money grubbers know they're rich, but after, I will never understand that. It would be more upsetting and humiliating to the mother to find out the fl is rich and never going to forgive her(although she will), than having to deal with even more bullying for the entirety of the drama. Personally, I would have been calling newspapers, holding press conferences and rubbing it in HARD.

I marvel at how the MLs have the audacity to question the FLs faithfulness when another woman is always by their side clinging to them in every drama. Every event, there's the other woman.
