George W. P. Hunt was the first Governor of Arizona and went on to serve seven terms.
He died on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1934 and was buried in a Pyramid at the top of a hill in Papago Park in Phoenix, Arizona.
Thanks for joining me today, on this trip to an unusual graveyard, and for sharing the memories!

Interesting information Steve. In 1881, the year "The old walrus" arrived in Globe Arizona, a few miles South things were getting scary in a silver mining town culminating in the October 26th 1881 Shootout at the OK corral. Also, the pyramids at Giza originally were totally covered in blinding white limestone. The native inhabitants later scavenged the limestone for their uses. It was written, I believe by Herodotus, the brilliant shine of the pyramids could be discerned leagues away at sea. Just saying.

He also lost his governorship after being sworn in because his opponent Campbell contested the election results and after the court proceedings, Campbell was declared the de facto governor. That has to be one of the most beautiful "monuments", headstones, and gravesites that I have ever seen. The picture of it a night is simply breathtakingly beautiful. I am surprised that many others haven't thought to emulate it. It is stunning! I visited POTUS #41's gravesite (The Bush's) at their Library in College Station, TX and I thought it was really pretty but it is absolutely nothing as spectacular as Hunt's gravesite.

If you love pyramids. You need to visit Arzona's only other Pyramid tomb.... and (like Gov. Hunt's) it is also listed on the National Register of Historical places... I refer you to the burial Pyramid of "Hi Jolly" in Quartzite Arizona... A rather interesting chap. Hi Jolly was responsible for bringing the first herd of Camels to Arizona under contract to the U.S. Army..... The rest? I'll let you discover as you wander through the hot, dusty, Quartzite cemetary, and enjoy the wonderful center piece that is the Hi Jolly burial pyramid............. For directions? Just ask pretty much anyone in town (tourists, and locals alike.. where to find "Hi Joly"......
