I experienced that fear from the protestant church system. It traumatized me pretty strongly. So much that I couldn't have anything to do with Jesus Christ or the bible for about a decade. It truly did a number on me. Through meditation, and developing spiritually I feel so much more compassion and patience. My guess is that those who stay in those places for a lifetime are people who either don't take it seriously, go there for social reasons, are just Sunday and Easter Christians. But don't tell them you aren't supposed to live together before marriage or have premarital sex, oh no! Those words must go in one ear and out the other

The most compelling evidence of the NDE phenomenon to me has always been the accounts where the person seems electrified while they recount their experience; they are so eager to share they can barely breath; like a child eager to tell you about an amazing adventure they've just had (even though it was decades ago). It's clear Steve's experience changed him like a bolt of lightning. He is still in touch with that power and doing his best to communicate the message he received. As usual, the message is so deep and profound it sounds to us like another language from another world. But if you listen to enough of these accounts and cultivate an authentic spiritual life these messages will start to make sense. At their core they are all the same message. This is what I believe. All the Bible thumpers will be mad at me but I believe all we have to do is have love in our hearts and we will find this heavenly nirvana. Just be a good person and be kind to everyone and everything. You don’t have to go to church or memorize the Bible, just be awake to energy flowing through you and in you. It sounds very nice and ideal; nevertheless, how would you account for those who have had NDE in hell, when they cannot consciously make decisions or choose what they see at the other site? It seems to be not your choice, but it simply happens, because they are clinically death. I don't understand why choosing to only believe the good experiences, but discredit the bad ones, as if it was the NDErs decision what experience to have at the other side, when they are not even "alive".

It's a scare tactic used to pull the members in and pay their tithes. 3 words were changed to mean Hell: Sheol, Hades and Gehenna. Study the origin of what those words really mean and you'll see how convenient it made man to change them for their purpose. Not one verse in the original copies found and left in the Bible (because they threw away anything that didn't fit their agenda) but not word was said about hell. Like a lot of us, I too was raised religious, and, in my experience, thought God hated me for being gay. I know a lot of people have had these experiences and come back a changed person. I would like to know what ultimate truth is. Not knowing keeps me up at night. I need my own personal experience. Thanks for sharing, Steve. Controlling religion is an absolute b**ch, which is one of the reasons why I struggle with believing in a loving God... why would God allow all of this controlling religion to ruin the lives of so many people? I appreciate all the questions about my talk. No hell wasn't the focus, living in Heaven was. To those who don['t understand what I meant...A brief Metaphor....There are two trees in the garden, The knowing of good and evil, and the tree of life. In meditation you become the tree of life and eat from it. The mind is awakened and you are set free from considering good and evil...Only Love and heaven exist here. When you eat from the tree of life, there is no hell, just love. Jesus came to root out the tree of knowing good and evil. When your mind is eating from this tree, there is Heaven/Good and Hell/evil. So the existence of Hell is real to you. You cannot understand because the mind is locked into this scenario. So I understand the questioning and hold no dark resistant feeling towards you. I understand, I have been there. Hell exists on earth, a lake of fire....the mystery....God is a consuming fire......all is well.....Peace to all.

Nope. They have died and didn't get to go into the light and therefore was separated from the love of the supreme being. They just roamed earth in the spirit realm and couldn't make sense of anything . Hell doesn't exist. No religion is true but there are some truth in all of them. All you need is love.

We have much in common. As a former Mennonite I can fully understand the guilt and fear you encountered. But I strongly feel my earlier religion was at least a stepping stone towards deeper spiritual experience.

What I take away from this is that peoples nde experience seems to be affected by one's own religious identity. Although he did say a lot of things that were not biblical, seemingly putting his own twist on scripture, his theory pretty much falls in line with the Judeao/Christian belief system. I was very saddened that he experienced so much religious trauma and that is possibly why he completely rejected the notion of hell even though it is in scripture. 🎉🎉🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF🎉🎉🎉

Actually Hell is mistranslated in the Bible, from words Gehenna (which was actually a PHYSICAL place outside of Jersualem, where corpses were set on fire) and the other root word Sheol, meaning literally the Grave. The idea of 'Hell' as we see it is not in the Bible

Respect to this guy, seems very down to earth and genuine. However, in alot of these NDE interviews, it seems like these people just start freestyling and saying shit just to say it, speaking in absolutes. I understand that organized religion has it's pitfalls, but this life is not a free for all. We do need order, structure and guidelines to live by. Also, we are God to an extent but God is also outside of us and something far bigger. It's incredibly narcissistic to believe there's nothing bigger.
