I gotta push back on the role model thing… I think Eminem (or more accurately, Marshall) is an excellent role model if you look at his example outside of the crazy stuff he says in his songs. - He beat serious, almost insurmountable odds - Broke the cycle of abuse. - Rose to the top as an outcast in a field he was not welcome. - Continues to overcome addiction. - Perseverance is unmatched - Managed to be an amazing father it seems - despite not only the challenges of fame but having grown up w/ zero examples of positive parenting or family - and his brother says he’s the best role model he could have asked for. - He seems loyal as hell, has some the strongest friendships imaginable. And once finding his footing in his career, has never compromised himself and his values. Plus boosting and supporting other artists, Plus I think giving back to his community, which he does not promote. And somehow managing to live the least fame-seeking, most humble life of any famous person. And too also, he must be treating women with respect in real life or the Me Too era would have eaten him alive. And that’s w/o even getting into his talent! I’m sure I’ve left some things out, but idk, if I had kids I’d love for them to look up to someone like him. We could use a lot more such examples.

I only heard about the Snoop/Em beef on the surface level. Snoop made passive comments and this is how Em responded. Growing up Eminem inspired me a lot as a kid. He really taught me to find my voice and to stand up for my self against bullies or anyone that had anything to say about me. I know that sounds corny but it’s the truth. He taught not to be afraid to speak my mind. He uses orange as his example and basically says when he is thinking of how to make shit rhyme he breaks words down and thinks of syllables rather then words.. he then things of different ways to say those syllables. It’s pretty interesting to listen to. That’s how he rhymes people with peep holes and see through them.

I agree with you on holding celebrities as role models - you connect with their music but you dont know their life. Its stupid. However I'll make an exception for Em - Eminem has been brutally honest in his music, and everything in his personal life has also been out in the public to an extent. We knew about his struggles with poverty, the bullies, everything in his personal life, drug addicition, od'ing and then fighting to come back. That is also a huge reason of why his fans connected with him so strongly and identified him as a role model, because of the battles he's been through and won.
