I kinda have a theory for that. When Naruto was born, Obito was already 'dead'. Minato and Kushina wanted Naruto to grow up and be like Obito. Kakashi respected and loved Minato and Kushina like parent figures. So, i assume that he wanted to honour them by being a big brother figure to Naruto, who grew up and became like Obito. Loud, energetic, kind and caring.

This moment is so well written. naruto's expression of shock proves that he wasn't expecting this at all, he fought pain to save the village, not to be a hero. As a child he only wanted attention, because he was pushed away by people, but as he grew older he understood that the true meaning of being a shinobi is to protect what is your own...for naruto that became the village despite the hatred of the people. Naruto looked beyond that and did everything out of genuine love for the village and it's people. Truly, he's the best :)
