Some people actually like to be acknowledged. Nothing wrong with that. It’s her love language. We often times do for others what we want done for us. That’s why she puts in the extra thought for these things. He may not find it to be a huge thing. May just be his personality. But I’ll say, if this was important to me and I had to constantly throw hints or reminders, it would make me feel a type of way also. It’s not about being petty.

Don't set yourself up for disappointment. Men don't think like wonen do. You practically have to hit them over the head to get their attention and to make them renember important dates. Our 23rd anniversary was yesterday. I knew he wouldn't remember so yesterday morning I told him Happy Anniversary and that we would be going to our favorite steak house for dinner. He looked at me a little embarrassed and said, "Sounds Good!" We had a nice dinner and I wasn't upset with him all day. You will learn to pick your battles. Happy Anniversary!

Not sure anyways whether that's right...) years of marriage I remembered our anniversary about 2 or three times. It's my husband who knows about those things... For the FORGOT part I would read it as he dont consider dates as important thing so he projects that for others and just dont think about it. This is very common character flow Im not free off. Everybody has own flaws. One time my wife forgot our wedding aniversary and she was sad because of it. I didnt told about it with hurt tone to 13 000 people which I think is my good side. And even better I wasn´t hurt at all. I just said to myself - yes, this could very easily happen. And next year I forgot my wifes name-day celebration 🤣 So for your question. Every day relationship is important. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays are man made things - having to think of gifts for special days is stress inducing and often ends up with people getting unwanted things. My husband was very practical and I loved it. He said if I need something I will buy it myself because I know which one I want. I think gift buying occasions are to make money for the stores.

As I grew up anniversaries were only kept for married couples. My daughter and her boyfriend now celebrate monthly anniversaries in a variety of ways. My husband and I have been together for 23 years and don't celebrate any anniversaries, we don't feel the need to spend money on gifts just daily acts of kindness to each other and lots of humour and in the words of Shania Twain he is "Still the one".

It seems like you and Jeff might have two totally different ‘love languages’ & that’s a very normal/natural thing.
