I'm in no way defending this guy! But there's no way to prove to the police they got the evidence the legal way.. That's why they refuse to use said evidence, not knowing if it was obtained via legit channels.. Police probably needs to do their own investigation from the ground up (to make sure it's done the legal way), which does makes sence. UNLESS the police and the youtubers 'investigating' this, work closely together. KZbinrs do make it worse and harder for the police.. They bring in their evidence, which can't be used in court, meanwhile edp makes sure he's clean for when the police raids his home, and he slips through the cracks cause of lack of evidence.. AGAIN.. Although, I'm hoping this time, he ends up behind bars. If you have reasonable suspicion someone's doing some illegal activities, just report said activities, doing your own deepdive investigation independent from official channels, will do more harm than good in the end. They didn't go through the police and didn't do the sting properly to the point, in a really short way, led to an entrapment defense. The way Jid did it though is less easy to get out of.
