You can activate the terminal at any point and you don't need to wait for the antenna rotation to stop. For all we know you've let the antenna circle around for a few times. Considering how light death is treated in HD2 and how unforgiving timer is, this dude saved you all time. Extra time left = extra resources. Annoying that he killed you, sure, but understandable.
