From Japan here. Wrapping rice up and putting it in the freezer is really common and it reheats well. Since rice is used in so many things sometimes it’s annoying to have to wait 30 minutes for your rice to cook if you have somewhere to be.

@@ManuxTDF microwave for a couple minutes. Don’t know why but it doesn’t dry out. Back when I was in the states my family would always keep rice in the fridge and Tony is totally right it turns to shit within a day. My girlfriend over here always wraps hers up and puts it in the freezer and I was curious. Sure enough it works. No dishes needed either. Tony’s solution is great if you live alone but if you, like me, share a rice cooker leaving your shit in there all day isn’t an option.
