Locker Nuts episode 389
I bought this locker for $910 plus fees through an online storage auction website. It looked really junky, but for some reason I just had to have it. After purchasing it, I found out that the owner had passed away some years before. Now I'm really intrigued to find out what he left behind, but I've got my work cut out for me, and this one gets dirty.
So begins part 1 of the "Orange Bag Hoarder" locker.
Here is some of the gear that I use on a regular basis (paid affiliate links):
Jewelry Loupe Magnifier amzn.to/2ycfRq6

It's advisable that you wear a mask since you found evidence of rat droppings. You're exposed to disease so you dont breath in the toxicity....better safe than sorry bc s hospital stay could eat up any profit after your investment. Also, you mentioned your children....might be wise to wear some coveralls so their not exposed to the toxicity when you pick them up from school... Some of the different glass pieces you passed on could be worth a little money, the blue vase in the suitcase looks like a depression glass piece. I have one just like it. If they are numbered on the bottom, it's worth even more. The green bowl with figures on the side that didn't have a marking, was still worth researching. You should learn a little more about glassware so you do not pass on a valuable piece.

He’d fill his mouth with tacks, catch one at a time with the magnet strike once then flip the hammer to drive the tack in . He needed one hand to stretch the fabric, therefore the mouthful of tacks! 😩 I was always afraid he’d swallow one, but he never did.

My dad was an upholsterer way back and I was going to say this too. The only thing I'd like to add is that the tacks came in a little bag, sanitized, I hope. Because he threw a bunch into his mouth and manouvered each one out to dispense as the magnet end of the hammer repeatedly was brought to his mouth. He placed the tack with a little tap, flipped the hammer and tapped it into place. All the while he was getting another tack ready to be dispensed.

A suggestion, for lockers that was used by hoarders or elder people that will also keep and sometimes hide that much valuables. If you have an extra metal detector, run them over the stuffed animals. Especially the older ones stuffed animals or dolls. Wouldnt be the first heirloom hidden in one. If they have cuts or have been sown back up. Dollars fit in books diamond earrings don't as you know. I think they might have been bought with those stamps they use to give you back in the day at gas stations or supermarkets but not 100% positive. Another funny thing was the Bob Stupek matches and Vegas World pin. Bob Stupek owned Vegas World Casino at the end of the strip. That is where I stayed when I went to Vegas to get married in 91. The Stratosphere is now there which they started to build in 1992.

That polly pocket was a punch of nostalgia and a memory recovery for me. I had the same one from McDonald's and forgot. It's my favorite thing found lol

You can use that little stepladder out by your truck to sit on then just take it back to the truck when you are ready.

Brass hammer: Jewelry or Prospecting. I facet semi-precious & precious gemstones up to 3.5", (up to sapphire. Special laps for Diamonds). I also repair faceted stones, and/or repolish - except for Opals. Usually get chipped. I prefer owning it, while working on it, difficult to see if stone is chipped or fractured. But I've cut several successfully, so keep me in mind, please. I also solder, repair rings - make new, or can wire wrap in whatever you like! I've no qualms about melting down junk silver, gold, etc, casting it. I have thought of bidding on lockers near me, but there's only me, no one else to help me. I only know vintage jewelry to present, gems, handmade & costume jewelry. Along w/kids collectibles, coin collections. Ever need an extra honest opinion, I am around in OC, CA.

You had some things worth money you didn't realize. You need to take the "donate" pile to get them appraised. I saw a few you were giving away, that are collectibles. Older costumer jewelry can be worth a lot of $$$$. Don't donate it!

That pen at 25:54 was a vintage DIsneyland pen. You could only get it at the Anaheim park, and it was only for the hotel at the front desk.

I'm watching this show on January 21st of 2022. Anyway I was a jewelry maker until the arthritis got to my hands and those little end pieces are very easy to replace you can get some of that stuff at hobby lobby or you probably had it in one of your lockers not too hard
